Today I tried some of the most complex nail art I’ve ever done: Finding Nemo nails! They’ve been done before plenty of times, but I knew I wanted to do an animation for my movie-inspired nails, and Finding Nemo was one of my favourite animations ever. Before I show you the pictures, I want you to focus very carefully: Look at my thumb, index finger, middle finger, CLOSE YOUR EYES FOR A MILLISECOND, and look at my pinkie. Seriously, don’t even THINK about looking at my trainwreck of a ring finger! Sadly I didn’t have time to try redo it!
I used a ton of polishes for this. I started with 1 coat of Essie In the Cab-ana, which I promptly covered with Revolution Rainbow in Poseidon, which was more opaque than I was expecting. The other polishes I used were: Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in White On and Black Out, Essence Colour & Go in Wanna Be Your Sunshine, Catrice in Pimp my Shrimp, Sinful Colors – Fly Away, NYX in Matte Chocolate and Matte Sky Blue, Revolution Autumn in NY, and Nails Inc Baker Street.
I painted all of the characters on with a small nail art brush. On my thumb, I did the baby turtle, Squirt; on my index finger was Bruce, the great white shark; Nemo himself was on my ring finger; an abomination that you should really STOP LOOKING AT that was supposed to be Dory is on my ring finger, and on my pinkie is one of the seagulls.
I was really proud of my other fingers (besides the ring finger), and especially of Nemo. It’s the first time I’ve tried something like this and even though I clearly need practice, I was really happy with it 🙂
Until then, take a look at these other movie-inspired manis:
