Prize winnings and my first water decals!

Hi everyone!

Today I am excited to show you the prize I won a few weeks ago from Karine’s Vernis Club. I’d like to thank her for the great prize, I was so excited to go pick it up the the post office and play with my goodies 😀 I was lucky enough to win a $40 voucher to spend at KKCenterHK. There were a few restrictions as to what I could buy but luckily I could choose between a whole host of nail art items!

Those are my goodies!

Firstly I chose some swatch sticks. I could do with a whole lot more of these though! There are 50 and I decided to use them for my purples. I have 32 purples but that’s sure to increase over time, so I need about another 5 sets of the swatch sticks! They are great, the only thing was that the nail polish I painted on them didn’t dry that smoothly, it seemed to wrinkle a bit – but that doesn’t bug me since I only need to see the colour of the polishes.

I didn’t get a shot of them in use, but I love them! Next up was a few different water decals: stars, hearts, and… TIGERS!

Then I got some cute star stickers, and guess what? …They glow in the dark!

I guess I was really enjoying all the stars because I also got star-shaped studs in neon green and purple:

Finally, I got some full nail wraps with a pretty musical pattern on them:

What a great prize, right? Everything looks like it’s good quality. The only thing I would have liked is if the water decal sheets would have been bigger – the size of the decals is good but I would have liked to get more of each and, in all honesty, I don’t think I would have paid R400 for this stuff. That said, everything seems to be good quality so far and it’s just so pretty! I had to try out some of the water decals immediately 🙂

I started off with 2 coats of Charlie Revlon’s Lady in Red.

I don’t wear red on my nails that often, but when I do, I like it! I decided to give it a little more depth using the cling wrap (saran wrap) technique and a darker, shimmery red. I forgot to check the name but I think it might be Daring.

I really love how the two look together!

The shimmer really comes out when applied like this!

Finally I got to try out my water decals! This was my first experience with water decals but I found them super easy. Just dip them in water for a few seconds and they slide right off the backing, and then you can just press them onto your nail and wait for them to dry.

It’s simple but the hearts look so dainty and pretty! I can’t wait to try out the other things I got 😀 What did you think of these nails?
