Tape Mani Monday: Half Moons

Hi everyone!

Another Monday, another tape mani. This is a bit different to previous tape manis I’ve posted because it used neither striping tape nor cellotape! I used hole reinforcers to create half moon nails. It’s still a form of tape!

Once it was dry, I taped on the hole reinforcers, and started creating the half moons with Essence’sĀ Hey, Nude! This was where I made a mistake. I hadn’t used Hey, Nude! before and I didn’t realise how sheer it was – I should have first done a coat of white polish so I didn’t have to try cover the dark blue. I gave up after 3 coats even though you could still see the blue shining through just because it was becoming too thick for me. It took forever to dry fully after that!half moon mani essence hey nude over tip top kingfisher with pearl rhinestones and roseSo while I thought this was a cool idea, I wasn’t so keen on the final mani. Maybe if I’d added white behind Hey, Nude! it would have worked better. It seems like I couldn’t get Kingfisher off my cuticles, either! At least the pearls and rose (from the Born Pretty Store) made it look a little more elegant. half moon mani essence hey nude over tip top kingfisher with pearl rhinestones and roseThe rose didn’t last long on my nail but I only stuck it on with top coat, using nail glue would probably keep it on longer.

Hi there! I noticed that you signed up for feedback from the Will Paint Nails for Food Boot camp. You know I love your nails, and your photos! šŸ™‚ The only feedback I have – is there a reason you use a page break? I really really dislike them, and in a discussion I had with the Hobby Polish Bloggers group (you should join, it’s on facebook!), a lot of them hated page breaks too. Just something to consider! šŸ˜€

Thanks so much for the advice! I guess I thought it might look neater but if you don’t like them I’ll stop using them for sure šŸ™‚

It’s totally a subjective thing – I know some people prefer them and some people hate them. LOL. You do what you like – that’s what is important. šŸ™‚

Hi! I came from the blogger’s bootcamp from Will Paint Nails for Food. I really like your black and white colors and your collage at the top of the page. My critique would be the moving snowflakies in the background, I tend to find them distracting.

    Love the pearls!

Thanks! They weren’t something I’d usually pick out but they really worked for me šŸ™‚

Gosh this is gorgeous! Love the pearls! I wasn’t a fan of Hey Nude either. It’s SO sheer. My friend uses it over other polish and it gives the texture and a little shimmer so it works well for her.

Oh yay you’re back! Yes, I think it could work over a light base and be pretty… not so much like this though.
