The Neverending Pile: Drugstore Polish

Hi everyone!

Today’s theme for the Neverending Pile Challenge is a drugstore-available polish. For me, that’s almost all I own, since most other polishes are out of my price range. I used polishes from a few different brands, including 3 untrieds, and I decided to try creating some stamping decals again. essence-colour-&-go-hello-spring!-revlon-whimsical-stamping-decals-sinful-colors-fig-catrice-keep-pool-charlie-revlon-lady-in-red-bm-321-m64-stamping-platesI have tried to make decals once before, but this time around I managed a lot better to get the decals to adhere to my nail without wrinkles or bubbles. I watched this video by Lucy’s Stash to help improve my technique and it definitely helped. essence-colour-&-go-hello-spring!-revlon-whimsical-stamping-decals-sinful-colors-fig-catrice-keep-pool-charlie-revlon-lady-in-red-bm-321-m64-stamping-platesI started with two coats of Essence’s Hello, Spring! on all my nails. On my index, middle and pinkie fingers, I added two coats of my first untried – Revlon Whimsical. It consists of blue and rose pink glitters in a greenish base, however it is extremely sheer so I definitely recommend layering it over another polish. essence-colour-&-go-hello-spring!-revlon-whimsical-stamping-decals-sinful-colors-fig-catrice-keep-pool-charlie-revlon-lady-in-red-bm-321-m64-stamping-platesFor the decals, I used plate BM-321 for my thumb nail and m64 for my ring finger. I filled in the patterns using Charlie Revlon Lady in Red along with two more untrieds, Sinful Colors Fig and Catrice Keep Pool. It definitely worked better with the image on my thumb, with larger areas to fill in. I managed a lot better using the method of creating the decal on the stamper itself, so I’ll definitely be giving this some more tries!essence-colour-&-go-hello-spring!-revlon-whimsical-stamping-decals-sinful-colors-fig-catrice-keep-pool-charlie-revlon-lady-in-red-bm-321-m64-stamping-platesHere’s how it looked in the sun. In the autumn/winter months, the sun shines into my room, so hopefully I’ll manage to show you some more sunlight pictures when I get a chance to photograph during the day. essence-colour-&-go-hello-spring!-revlon-whimsical-stamping-decals-sinful-colors-fig-catrice-keep-pool-charlie-revlon-lady-in-red-bm-321-m64-stamping-platesWhat do you think of my attempt at stamping decals?npc-graphic

Love this Kerry and I adore Whimsical!

Thanks V! At first I was disappointed Whimsical was so sheer but then once I just layered it, it’s super pretty

    I do like the flowers.
I am still trying to figure out which fall under drugstore, since back home they don’t sell nail polish at drugstores. It’s easier here in the UK, but I still don’t know what to pick 😛

      Thank you!
I took ‘drugstore’ quite broadly… here there is a major store which sells a lot of cosmetic type products and which also sometimes has a pharmacy inside it so I took that to count lol

Great job with the decals! I usually stamp decals onto a silicone baking sheet (even a silicone spatula works) so that I can do several at once instead of one at a time. Works great!

Thanks Tina! Yes, I know of that method, and tried it last time, but I just wanted to see if this would work better for me (it did). BUT I’ll try that method again next time because I think I have an idea of what I did wrong – I think I made the decals too thick. Hopefully I’ll get better!

I love this post! I did a review on Taylor Swift’s wonderstruck perfume and did a post about ‘comparing yourself to others’ It would mean alot if you could check it out and maybe follow me. You have areally lovely blogkeep up the good work! XXX hatice

      Glad you liked it!

Great job on those decals Kerry. I love the colour combinations and layering of everything here.
I also did my decals on the stamper and it was quite easy. I am stumped when I want to do more than one but I have a cheap old stamper lying around (that I wouldn’t really use to stamp with as it is quite hard but does pick up images well) and I can now use that to make more than one. I will be picking up one or two more of those cheapo stampers just for that reason. (useless info, unless you also had the same concern as me 😛 I really do prefer it on the stamper)

I was also thinking of getting a couple more stampers for that! I am gonna try on a piece of plastic again though, everyone seems to manage like that. Maybe if I just make sure not to make it too thick. I’ve also heard using a fast dry top coat for the decals can make them brittle, so next time I’ll try a normal top coat

I haven’t had much luck or enjoyed the process using other things but I guess I should at least try one more time. But for now I am happy using my stamper. Yes I also heard people struggling with fast dry topcoats. I use the Essence gel look topcoat. Mostly because I won’t use it as normal topcoat in a hurry and I have had good results.

Ja the time I tried on plastic didn’t work great. There are just so many things to try though and so little time!
