The Neverending Pile Challenge: Brown

Hi everyone!

Today I needed to use a brown polish for the Neverending Pile Challenge, and luckily I had just one in my untried pile! swatch-essence-time-for-romanceThis is 3 coats of Essence’s Time For Romance. A quick look at other swatches of this polish tells me that many people are seeing this as a pink polish, but to me it is brown brown brown and I don’t really know where they’re coming from with pink. I can see it being coppery or a red-toned brown, but it is definitely a brown. swatch-essence-time-for-romanceIt’s a crelly base filled with small glitter and larger hex glitter. A really great one for Essence here! I love the range of finishes they come out with. swatch-essence-time-for-romanceHere it is in the sun: swatch-essence-time-for-romanceMy lightbox pictures came out better, but you can get the idea.

Here’s the nail art: striping-tape-criss-cross-stud-nyx-matte-sky-blue-essence-time-for-romance-nail-artWhen I saw this post by Wacky Laki, I knew I wanted to create something similar. Although I’ve used the same pattern, the look of this is quite different to hers – hers looked smooth and chic while the glitter in mine makes it appear less smooth and the colours are more fun than chic. striping-tape-criss-cross-stud-nyx-matte-sky-blue-essence-time-for-romance-nail-artI started with a base of NYX Matte Sky Blue (which I topcoated, so it’s not matte here) and once it was dry I applied striping tape criss-crossing. I didn’t manage to get the pattern equal across all nails but I think I did ok. striping-tape-criss-cross-stud-nyx-matte-sky-blue-essence-time-for-romance-nail-artI applied Essence Time for Romance on top (I’m not sure how many coats – probably 3) and pulled off the tape. I then added on the studs and voila! I didn’t topcoat over Time for Romance as I actually liked the depth created where the tape was pulled away. striping-tape-criss-cross-stud-nyx-matte-sky-blue-essence-time-for-romance-nail-artWhat do you think? Is this a good use of this glittery gorgeous brown polish? striping-tape-criss-cross-stud-nyx-matte-sky-blue-essence-time-for-romance-nail-artTake a look at some more brown untrieds at the link:

Aaaah man love this! And definitely the polish is more brown toned like copper. I don’t see pink

Ja I was surprised to see some people calling it pink but I guess it might have been one of those Essence changed or something. And thanks 🙂

I could see it called maroon, but definitely not pink! I’m partially color blind though, so what do I know?

Lol! It’s definitely reddish enough to be maroon, but to me it’s just reddish *brown*. I don’t even remember where I saw pink, but I was just surprised 🙂

I just had a good giggle at the pink / brown. Either way, it’s pretty. I also really like the depth from not top coating it after removing the tape.

Side note: I recall layering time for romance over a white and I *think* the white turned a bit more pinkish than brown. But possibly even more maroon. I will have to do it again to confirm.

That could be, maybe when it’s just one coat layered, I haven’t tried it like that. I was just surprised cos when I use it like this I just see reddish brown 🙂
