Today I needed to use a brown polish for the Neverending Pile Challenge, and luckily I had just one in my untried pile! This is 3 coats of Essence’s Time For Romance. A quick look at other swatches of this polish tells me that many people are seeing this as a pink polish, but to me it is brown brown brown and I don’t really know where they’re coming from with pink. I can see it being coppery or a red-toned brown, but it is definitely a brown. It’s a crelly base filled with small glitter and larger hex glitter. A really great one for Essence here! I love the range of finishes they come out with. Here it is in the sun: My lightbox pictures came out better, but you can get the idea.
Here’s the nail art: When I saw this post by Wacky Laki, I knew I wanted to create something similar. Although I’ve used the same pattern, the look of this is quite different to hers – hers looked smooth and chic while the glitter in mine makes it appear less smooth and the colours are more fun than chic. I started with a base of NYX Matte Sky Blue (which I topcoated, so it’s not matte here) and once it was dry I applied striping tape criss-crossing. I didn’t manage to get the pattern equal across all nails but I think I did ok. I applied Essence Time for Romance on top (I’m not sure how many coats – probably 3) and pulled off the tape. I then added on the studs and voila! I didn’t topcoat over Time for Romance as I actually liked the depth created where the tape was pulled away. What do you think? Is this a good use of this glittery gorgeous brown polish? Take a look at some more brown untrieds at the link:
