August Tri-Polish Challenge: Octopus nails

Hi everyone!

This month I am taking part in the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts Tri-Polish Challenge once again. This month’s colours are red, blue, and yellow. At first I had trouble coming up with good ideas for these colours (and I still need a couple more ideas!) but then I saw these adorable nails done by Wondrously Polished and I got inspired! essence-wanna-be-your-sunshine-sinful-colours-neptune-charlie-revlon-lady-in-red-octopus-anchor-seahorse-starfish-nautical-nailsAren’t they too cute? And yes – I managed these within the rules of the tri-polish challenge – a red, a blue, and a yellow, plus white which is a ‘free’ polish! I decided to mix the polishes with white to create more shades – something I’ve never really done before for the TPC but it worked great.

I have very few yellow polishes, so to start off with I mixed Essence Wanna Be Your Sunshine with Sinful Colours Snow Me White to create a pastel yellow and used that as a base. I next applied the white stripes using Sinful Colours Snow Me White with a nail art brush. essence-wanna-be-your-sunshine-sinful-colours-neptune-charlie-revlon-lady-in-red-octopus-anchor-seahorse-starfish-nautical-nailsNext, I used a fine nail art brush to paint the octopus using Revlon Charlie Lady in Red. I also mixed this polish with white to paint the starfish. The anchor was done using Sinful Colors Neptune (I thought it was an appropriate polish for a nautical mani!) and again, I mixed Neptune with white for the seahorse. I added a few accents in white and voila! essence-wanna-be-your-sunshine-sinful-colours-neptune-charlie-revlon-lady-in-red-octopus-anchor-seahorse-starfish-nautical-nailsUnfortunately, I noticed my top coat smearing a little so I applied it more thickly only for it to bubble… sigh. These things are not very noticeable in reality but in the pictures they become more noticeable. I still love these nails though and I think they’re some of the cutest nails I’ve done! What do you think?

Oooh wow, this is so cute and fun! Your octopus that spans multiple nails and your seahorse are adorable. 🙂 Bummer on the smearing, but it’s not too noticeable. I was too busy staring at the cute tentacles. 😀

Thanks! Yes I was also hoping it wouldn’t be too noticeable amongst the nail art but some people notice everything, haha 🙂
