Today’s theme for the 31 Day Challenge is Inspired by the Supernatural. I’ve stretched a bit to get mine within the theme, but too bad – I love what I’ve done!
I originally planned to stamp some little demons over a background of fire. Once I’d done the fire, I liked it so much that I didn’t want to add the demons any more… so now they’re just Hellfire nails.
I’ve been wanting to create fire using a needle drag ever since More Nail Polish posted these purple fire nails earlier during the challenge. To create mine, I started with a base of Tip Top Salsa Pop. Once it was dry, I painted thick stripes of Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Essence Wanna Be Your Sunshine, Tip Top Salsa Pop, Revlon Charlie Lady in Red, and Chi Chi Sophisticated Sassy over each nail, one at a time. There’s a little bit of Tribal Colours #08 on the tip of my thumb as well, but it got left off the other nails as they aren’t long enough. I then used a toothpick to gently drag from the lighter to the darker colours to create the flame effect. I dipped the toothpick lightly in Tip Top Night Life for the blue centre of the flames, but that only shows up in a couple of spots.I really like the effect of this – it probably looks better than any fire I’d’ve tried to paint, and it was so easy!
Last year I did something very Halloween-y for this prompt, with ghosts, witches, and pumpkins:What do you think of my fire nails for this year?Just two themes left! We’re almost done with the challenge!Take a look at some more nails inspired by the supernatural at the link:
