Pattern nails – day 26 of the 31 Day Challenge

Hi everyone!

Today’s theme in the 31 Day Challenge is nails inspired by a pattern. Last week Emily over at Very Emily did a tutorial for a beautiful Asa No Ha pattern and I knew I had to try it for today. Painted Fingertips | Asa No Ha pattern for day 26 of the #31DC2014 - inspired by a patternI started with a base of Tip Top Cream Puff on my middle and ring fingers, then did the pattern step by step as shown in Emily’s tutorial. I wasn’t sure that my triangles would come out aligned correctly if I did it exactly the way she showed in the tutorial, so I rather painted the horizonal lines first, then completed the triangles, then finished the details. Go take a look at her tutorial to see what I’m talking about!Painted Fingertips | Asa No Ha pattern for day 26 of the #31DC2014 - inspired by a patternA couple of times I couldn’t get the lines quite thin enough, but I love these nails! The pattern is so beautiful. I wouldn’t have known anything other than that this is a pretty pattern, but apparently it is a traditional Japanese pattern. I just know it looks lovely on my nails! Only after doing these did I realised I stamped the same pattern on my nails last year. The stamped version looks more delicate but I think I did a great job for freehand!

Last year I recreated a colourful pattern from a book I have:

I have a great idea in mind so I hope I manage to execute it!chalkboard-nails-31-day-challenge-2014-blueberry-blastTake a look at the rest of the pattern-inspired nails for today:

Wow wow and wow how beautiful but time consuming. Think I might buy the nail art stamp, lol sorry. You can be very proud of your hard work version it’s incredible.

Thank you! I don’t blame you, lol! The stamp was beautiful. I don’t think it’s possible to get it quite so delicate freehand anyway, but there is just something about managing it freehand that feels extra special <3
