Hi everyone!
I had some trouble deciding what to do for today’s prompt. I’ve done rainbow gradients before, so I wanted to try something different. The first idea I had didn’t work out at all but I am actually glad because I love the result of my next idea:I decided it was time to try stamping decals again! This time they were far more successful than my previous attempt, too 🙂 So we have some deep blue skies after a storm, and the sky is still cloudy. I used silver for the clouds because every cloud has a silver lining! The storm is over so a rainbow has appeared and a bird is celebrating.
The first step in this look was to create the decals themselves. Both the bird and the rainbow came from plate MLS301. For the bird, I coloured it using Sinful Colors Snow Me White for the head and belly, ILNP Mutagen (H) for the wings, and ILNP Cygnus Loop (H) for the body. For the rainbow, I used Nails Inc Cambridge Terrace for the clouds, and Charlie Lady in Red, Essence Beijos de Brazil, and Sally Hansen Cherry, Cherry, Bang, Bang! for the rainbow itself. I left the decals to dry while I prepared the base on my nails.
I started with a base of Essence It’s Raining Men! and then used the cling wrap/saran wrap technique to apply blotches of NYX Matte Sky Blue and Essence Grey-t To Be Here. I stamped the clouds using BM-312 and Tip Top Armourplate.
Once it was dry, I applied another layer of top coat and while it was still tacky, I applied the decals. I then added a final layer of top coat to smooth them out. I LOVE the outcome! I decided to try it mattified as well, but I ended up preferring it shiny. Which version do you prefer?
Last year I did a fun and bright vertical rainbow gradient, with added glitter: I am so glad I tried stamping decals again as I love the outcome of these. I am really happy with the way the cling wrapped background comes together with the clouds, too!
