Today’s theme in the 31 Day Challenge is inspired by a movie. Not so long ago, I rewatched one of my favourite animations, Rango. It’s a story about a chameleon who is thrust into the role of a hero and has no idea how to fulfill it. I think both the animation and the storyline are brilliant and I highly recommend it! For those of you who haven’t seen it, here’s a trailer:
I started with a base of Tip Top Beach Babe and sponged on Tip Top Cream Puff to look like very light clouds in the sky – not too much because this is the desert! I sponged on a gradient of Tribal Colours #11 and OPI What Wizardry is This? to represent the desert sand stretching off into the distance. The rest was done using acrylic paints.
My top 4 nails look a bit like an aquarium with that fish swimming around, but actually, it’s the desert! Yes, fish and all! You see that fish for a moment in the trailer above as well.
Here is a close-up of Rango’s face:Well, there is a lot of room for improvement, but I was pretty happy with this guy. I think he is at least recognisable. Nails are teeny-tiny so I think I’ve done a good job 🙂
Last year I did nails inspired by Finding Nemo. I think I did a pretty good job for them as well. What do you think of my Rango nails? Here are the rest of the themes for the challenge. Tomorrow’s theme is inspired by a book and you can expect even more freehand art from me! Take a look at some more movie nails at the link:
