I’ve made it! It’s the last day of the 31 Day Challenge and I’ve managed to complete it, for the second time. The past few days my posts have been later than usual as I’ve struggled to get them done but I’ve done each one on the right day so success!
Today’s theme is ‘Honour nails you love’. This can be a tough one – not because I can’t think of nails I love, but because there are so many amazing nail artists and designs out there that it’s hard to choose one. I knew I’d struggle with this, so since the challenge started, I’ve been keeping my eyes open for something I loved. When Victoria from Vic & Her Nails posted these beautiful Chinese pattern nails earlier this month, I decided then and there that that’s what I’d recreate for today.
Victoria regularly comes up with amazing freehand nail art, the kind which makes me gasp but which also makes me want to try more freehand myself. A while ago I asked her how she got fine lines and she recommended I trim a brush myself to get it fine enough. I did and it works wonders! I started with a base of Tip Top Gold Mine. Once it was dry, I added a matte top coat to make it easier to paint on. I then did all the detail work with my very fine brush and red acrylic paint. I really love the detail of this pattern and had fun creating it. At this stage I decided to take some photos, so there is no top coat over the acrylic paint. I wanted to see how it looked shiny as well, so I added a quick top coat and snapped a few more pictures:Do you like it better shiny or matte?
