I’m sure most of you know the ’12 Days of Christmas’ song.
On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
A partridge in a pear tree.
The song goes on for 12 days of Christmas with 12 different gifts (e.g. 2 turtle doves, 5 golden rings, 12 drummers drumming). The idea of today’s prompt was to take one of the gifts from the song and translate it into nail art. I decided to ‘cheat’ by instead using the line ‘On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me’. For our first Christmas together, my true love gave me a beautiful summer dress with a leaf print pattern. I decided to do matching nails:I wasn’t sure how well this would translate to nail art but I remembered seeing various leaf print nail designs done by Wondrously Polished so I decided to just give it a go. I’m really glad I did! I loved how these turned out and they matched the dress perfectly! I realised I might not be able to reproduce the exact look of the leaves on the dress so I decided to just go with the same colour scheme and randomly paint leafy fronds. I think it worked perfectly because it maintained the feel of the dress really well. I started with a base of Essie In The Cab-ana then did all of the leaves with acrylic paint. I finished it off with a matte top coat. These might not be the most Christmassy Christmas nails ever, but they do technically fit the theme and I love them! They are almost floral even though they don’t have any actual flowers on them.
Because you have made it this far you are rewarded with the ONLY picture I could find of me in the dress:Lousy quality but lovely dress! What do you think?Take a look at some more ’12 Days of Christmas’ nails at the link:
