Water Marble Wednesday: Pink and Purple

Hi everyone!

You might remember how excited I was a couple of weeks ago to find out how well the Tip Top neons marbled. I was determined to try them again and today I have. I actually didn’t use the same polishes as last time, but used a different bright pink and purple from Tip Top to see if they would work as well. Painted Fingertips | Pink and purple water marble

I was overjoyed to get this petal-like pattern right! It’s a fairly simple water marble pattern but I have always struggled with it. Perhaps I just wasn’t using the right polishes! For this look, I started with a base of Sinful Colors Snow Me White then marbled using Tip Top Grape Dance and Sitting Pretty.Painted Fingertips | Pink and purple water marble

You can see how much brighter the colours look on some nails than on others. I think that was dependent on how thick the polish was where I dipped my nail which had a lot to do with how many drops of polish I’d added. I did wish all my nails were as vibrant as my index finger, but I didn’t mind it much.

I love marbling with these polishes! It really makes a world of difference to use polishes which marble well. I’m sure you haven’t seen the last of them! Painted Fingertips | Pink and purple water marble

What do you think of this look? What are your favourite polishes to marble with?

This looks amazing! Water marbling can be so hit or miss. I love to do it with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear polish – they tend to be just right in terms of consistency.

Oh yes – the Sally Hansens do tend to be good! If only every polish I had could marble so well 🙂

Thank you! I think water marbling can always be a bit hit and miss, especially when you’re trying a new colour combination.

    Are you uk based?

    • http://paintedfingertips.wordpress.com paintedfingertips

No, I’m South African. The polishes I used here are also a South African brand which sadly is busy shutting down.

      • http://flowbeth.wordpress.com KaboodleMum

Oh, thats cool. Well i’m in the uk and so far ive only found 1 off the shelf brand thts works for water marble. All the others dry to quick or dont spread put properly x

Love how bright this is! And the fact that the vibrancy varied from nail to nail adds to the marbled effect. I typically have the best luck marbling with the Sally Hansen x-treme wear line and Sinfuls.

Thanks! Yes I hoped it looked like it was supposed to be that way. I also use those to marble with a lot! Sometimes I use Essence as well but not all of them work well.

Another great water marble. I’m so jealous of those of you that do it so well. Mines always turn out awful.

    • http://paintedfingertips.wordpress.com paintedfingertips

Thank you! That’s the main reason I started my Water Marble Wednesday. I wanted to improve my marbling because it just takes practice I think!
