If you’re a follower of my blog, you’ve probably heard about the Facebook Group Hobby Polish Bloggers by now. HPB is a great support group for nail and nail polish bloggers. It’s not about sharing nail pictures, but rather is about discussing, asking for help, and being part of a blogging community. If you’re a blogger too, go check out the group! The past few months, we have been doing a monthly themed linkup for group members. This month’s theme is Valentine’s. Here’s what I came up with: I was inspired by this great tutorial by Lacquerstyle for the roses. On all of my nails, I started by creating a gradient using Color Club Ruby Slippers, Chi Chi Sophisticated Sassy, and LA Girl Black Illusion. The gradient got a bit covered up on the rose nails. To create the roses, I used a small nail art brush to outline the petals with Essence Icylicious. I then went over the petals with Ruby Slippers, being sure to allow Icylicious to peek through a little. I didn’t feel happy with how the roses looked, so I tried to fill in shadows again with Black Illusion. In the end, the roses did look better, although I wasn’t 100% satisfied. On my thumb and ring fingers, I used Icylicious to paint hearts along the tip and then filled in the hearts using Sophisticated Sassy, leaving an outline open. I really liked the combination of the rose and the heart nails, and I’m glad you can see the gradient better on the heart nails. What do you think of this look?
