Review: BPS Zigzag Nail Guides

Painted Fingertips | Zigzag nails using BPS guides

Some items in this post have been provided for review.

Hi everyone!

Nail vinyls and stencils have been all the rage lately with different companies creating every imaginable pattern and different people using them in even more ways. The pattern that I’ve always been the most keen to try is zigzags. Luckily, I got the chance to try some when I was sent a sample from Born Pretty Store. They are called French Manicure Wave Edge Tip Guides and come in two similar versions – one is slightly narrower with thinner chevrons than the other (I think I have the narrower version). Painted Fingertips | Zigzag nails using BPS guidesI started off with a gradient of Tip Top Melting Marshmallows, Sherbet Angel, and Pot-O-Berries. I made sure it was completely dry before applying the guides, since it’s easy for this type of thing to pull up a base polish. Painted Fingertips | Zigzag nails using BPS guidesOnce it was dry, I carefully applied the zigzag stencils, pressing them down to the edges of my nails. I liked the level of stickiness they had – they could conform to my curved nails, and I restuck some of them a few times to get them lined up properly. The individual stickers were longer than I needed, so I cut them in half to get more out of them. This means you could also use them vertically on long nails. Painted Fingertips | Zigzag nails using BPS guidesI painted over the stencils with Tip Top Champagne Whispers and then pulled up the stencils. I found that the stencils pulled up really well and sharply, but I did get a couple of spots of the champagne on the pink. I suspect this was partly due to the thickness of the polish – Champagne whispers is a little sheer, so I applied three coats. I’d recommend using an opaque polish to avoid this. Perhaps I could have waited a few seconds longer before pulling up the stickers, too. The small errors didn’t bother me though, and I loved wearing this look! If you want your nails perfect, it’s easy enough to touch up any mistakes with a small brush. Painted Fingertips | Zigzag nails using BPS guidesI really liked wearing this and I look forward to playing with these zigzag stencils again! Personally, I really liked this look – what do you think?

I love the look you did with these! Ive thought about picking some up from BPS but I had yet to see a review but now I might. I actually find it better to remove the stickers right away though.

Thanks! I think it usually is better but my polish on top was just a bit too thick, next time I’ll use a more opaque polish on top.

Ooh, I like this gradient and that you used gold with it. Very classy looking, but still fun for summer!

You should check them out! They’re more like the french nail stickers that have been around for ages than the vinyls that are everywhere at the moment, but they do the job so I don’t think that’s a problem.
