Negative Space and Rainbow Stripes

Painted Fingertips | Striping Tape - negative space and rainbows

Hi everyone!

It has been ages since I’ve pulled out my striping tape so I decided it was finally time again. I was inspired by this post by Nail Polish Wars and I decided to try out something similar. Painted Fingertips | Striping Tape - negative space and rainbowsI’m not usually the biggest fan of negative space nail art, even though I have tried it before, but I loved how it looked together with the rainbow accent nail so I decided to give it a go. Painted Fingertips | Striping Tape - negative space and rainbowsI started off with a base coat on all of my nails. Once it was dry, I applied some extra thin striping tape on my index, middle, and pinkie fingers and painted 2 coats of LA Girl Black Illusion. I pulled the striping tape off and added a top coat. Unfortunately I managed to smear my index finger a bit but oh well! I applied 2 coats of Black Illusion to my thumb and ring finger nails as well. Painted Fingertips | Striping Tape - negative space and rainbowsOnce Black Illusion was dry, I stuck down the striping tape and carefully filled in the gaps using Tip Top Peach Crisp, Essence Beijos de Brazil, Sinful Colors Endless Blue, and Sally Hansen Cherry, Cherry, Bang, Bang!. I carefully pulled up the tape and voila! Painted Fingertips | Striping Tape - negative space and rainbowsI really like the rainbow nails and I think the negative space complements them well. What do you think?
