Winter is officially here and with it has come the snow! It snowed properly for the first time on Thanksgiving. It was very exciting for me as it’s the first time I’ve seen proper snow – everything looks magical and the snow is a lot of fun. Luckily I had some snowflake nails ready to show you! I did these nails almost 2 weeks ago already, ready for when the snow came.
I started off with a four-shade gradient using Tip Top Turbulence, and Sinful Colors Endless Blue, Fly Away, and Snow Me White. I used a makeup sponge to blend the 4 shades in a gradient and went over it a few times until I got it looking nice and smooth.
On top of this, I used white acrylic paint and my fine nail art brush to freehand some snowflakes. I ended it off with a few little snowy dots.
Aren’t these great? I had so much fun doing them and I just loved the outcome.
Now for the part you’ve been waiting for – how I survived an attack! The day after I did these, my husband and I were attacked close to our home. He had walked with me back from the bus stop after my day’s classes. As he went to open the building’s door, someone grabbed him from behind. We had our hoods up and hadn’t realised anyone was around us – they must have followed us around the building. A second person grabbed me and shoved me down the stairs. Luckily, my hero-husband didn’t just go down easy. Although he stumbled he was able to get back up. Both attackers got up to focus on him so I could get up too. Attacker no. 1 said Shoot and Hero-husband said Run! We ran for it and although they pursued briefly, they then turned and ran away. It was a terrifying experience but we got away ok – a black eye for my husband and a bruise or 2 for me – and mostly, just the shock of what happened.
Presumably their intention was to rob us – not that we had much to steal in any case. When we stood up I had expected them to demand our belongings, but they didn’t. I guess they expected us to just continue laying on the ground while they robbed us? Hero-husband had been carrying a bag with some groceries and guess what? When we came back to go inside, our soap was gone. That’s right, our soap. All we’d bought was milk and soap.
So why am I sharing this story? Because, of course, I wanted to share how my nails looked after the time. Of course this was the least of my worries, but 2 of my nails got broken when I got shoved to the ground.
This is a little reminder as well – Even if you live in a safe neighbourhood (we do), remember to be alert and look around you every now and again. I knew that at your door is a common place to be attacked but I guess that didn’t sink in until it happened! Remember to look around you when you get close to your door. We were lucky and grateful to get away ok. So be safe everyone – and enjoy the beautiful snow!
