Colouring Pencil Butterfly Wing Nail Art

Painted Fingertips | Colouring pencil butterfly wings

Hi everyone!

Remember the colouring pencil musical notes nail art I did not long ago? I thought that it was such a cool technique that I had to try it again. Today I’m taking part in another theme for the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts 40 great nail art ideas challenge, and today’s theme was insects so I decided to go with butterfly wings! Painted Fingertips | Colouring pencil butterfly wings

I started with a base of Sinful Colors Snow Me White and stamped the butterfly wing images using Moyou Pro Collection 05. I added a matte top coat to give the pencils some grip and then let it dry fully. It’s very important to let it dry 100% (not just touch-dry) or all you’ll end up doing is denting the polish with your pencil. Painted Fingertips | Colouring pencil butterfly wings

Once it was dry, I just had fun colouring in the butterfly wings with coloured pencils. I decided I wanted to give them that extra something, so I added a coat of Sinful Colors Opal Glitter. This is such a fun technique and since I have aquarelle pencils, I find myself wondering if next time I can get more vibrant colour by wetting the tips… hmmm. Painted Fingertips | Colouring pencil butterfly wings

What do you think? If you haven’t tried this technique yet, you should – it literally turns your nails into a colouring book!
