31DC2016 Day 1: Red Freehand Roses

Painted Fingertips | Red freehand roses for the #31DC2016

Hi everyone!

As promised, I’m here for the first day of the 31 Day Challenge with not just any nail art, but freehand nail art! Once again, if you’re interested in participating or just want to know more about the challenge, check out the FAQ. I’ll also include the full list of prompts at the end of this post. The very first theme is red. For this one, I decided to make the red the ‘feature’ colour with the main colour being pink. Painted Fingertips | Red freehand roses for the #31DC2016

I started off with a base of Darling Diva As Much Fun as a Sandpaper Dildo from their Deadpool collection. All the rest was done using acrylic paints. Painted Fingertips | Red freehand roses for the #31DC2016

It’s been a while since I’ve done this style of rose, but to me they’re kind of a nail art staple that resurfaces every few months. I’ve done basic needle-swirled versions in purple and coral, and painted them in red and gold, blue, and again in more detailed blue. This particular iteration took a while because of the detail I added in the roses, but you can do a simple version very quickly. Painted Fingertips | Red freehand roses for the #31DC2016

So, there you have it! It may be an old staple, but I’m very happy with how this one turned out. That’s a good thing, too, because as usual, I don’t love my orange and yellow looks for the next couple of days. In previous years, I’ve started the challenge off with one-stroke flowers, rubies, and a tape manicure. You can see the upcoming themes on the graphic below:
