Today’s theme in the 31 Day Challenge is inspired by an artwork. I decided to recreate van Gogh’s Starry Starry Night.
I started with a base of LA Girl Brilliant Blue, rather than my usual white base. I thought this would work better in the largely blue painting, but I ended up painting over it entirely in any case. The picture has been painted using acrylic paint.
I found it surprisingly difficult to create the intense brushstrokes. It took a while, but I was reasonably happy with it in the end. I was getting a bit tired by the time I came to my thumbnail, though, and I wasn’t 100% happy with how it turned out. I think the artwork is clear enough so that’s the main thing! Starry starry night is such an iconic painting and I’ve always liked it. It’s about time I did it on my nails! I actually did attempt it once before, a LONG time ago. It was a disaster and it’s good to see what a long way I’ve come!
