31DC2016 Day 28: Inspired by the US flag

Painted Fingertips | Nails inspired by the US flag for the #31DC2016

Hi everyone!

Today’s theme for the 31 Day Challenge is ‘inspired by a flag’. This has never been a very popular theme of the challenge; to me it seems oddly specific compared to most of the other themes. The American flag is usually popular, firstly since so many bloggers are from the US and secondly because the vibrant colours and the stars and stripes both lend themselves to nail art. I’ve never gone in that direction before, until today!Painted Fingertips | Nails inspired by the US flag for the #31DC2016

Since I am currently living in the US, I figured it was about time I did a nail art for the US flag. Of course, my recent Captain America nail art was pretty similar to this one. Painted Fingertips | Nails inspired by the US flag for the #31DC2016

I decided on a red, white and blue water marble to be a swirling version of the flag’s ‘stripes’. I only included the white on a couple of the nails, while the rest got their white from the stars. The stars, of course, were the freehand portion of this look, done with acrylic paint. I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Zoya Song, and of course Zoya America for the marble. In previous years, I’ve done the South African flag (naturally), and a rather awful version of the Irish flag.
