31DC2016 Day 30: Water Drops Inspired by a Tutorial

Painted Fingertips | Water drop nails inspired by a Starrynail tutorial

Hi everyone!

It’s the second last day of the 31 Day Challenge! I’ve actually already done my nails for tomorrow so I’m officially finished and these were the last nails I did. Today’s theme is inspired by a tutorial. You probably know by now that I enjoy recreating other nail art looks I love, but not everyone does tutorials. I had to search a little to find a tutorial that fit my freehand criteria for the challenge. In the end I picked a water drops tutorial by Starrynail. This is the second look by her I’ve recreated this challenge (the first was my Game of Thrones look) – she just does such amazing freehand art! I tried water drops once before – 3 years ago, just after I started this blog. They were such a disaster that I never shared them, so let’s all have a laugh at them now:

The tutorial definitely helped! I stared with a base of Supermoon Lacquer The Kinda Guy I’d Stalk in School and used acrylic paint for the water drops. Painted Fingertips | Water drop nails inspired by a Starrynail tutorial

The tutorial did help a lot but I still felt like there might have been some magic ingredient I was missing! I did think I got better as I went along – I finished with my thumbnail and I definitely thought that one was the best! Painted Fingertips | Water drop nails inspired by a Starrynail tutorial

In previous years, I’ve done daisy nails and cute animal nails.
