It’s the final day of the 31 Day Challenge! Can you believe it? I’m so glad that I’ve made it through this year’s challenge, and congratulations to everyone else who took part! The final theme is ‘honour nails you love’. I really enjoy this theme, because I love doing nail art inspired by others. There are so many fantastic nail bloggers, and when I see nails I love it’s hard not to recreate them. I often go to others when I’m in need of inspiration, too. If I can’t decide what to do on my nails, I’ll head to my Pinterest boards or catch up on my blog reading and see if it gives me any ideas. One of the nail artists who inspires me the most is Narmai of Piggieluv. She has incredible freehand nail art skills and comes up with the best, and often the craziest (in a good way!) ideas. So, it was only natural that I recreate one of her nail art looks for the final day of the challenge and I decided to go with some freehand landscape nails.
I was inspired by this post on Piggieluv. I loved the bright, warm colours that make this the most spectacular sunset ever. I started with a base of Sinful Colors Snow Me White to help with opacity, then added a matte top coat to make it easier to paint. The entire landscape scene was done freehand with acrylic paints.
I had to make something up to go on my thumbnail and even though it doesn’t quite make sense in terms of the landscape, I still really think the colours make it work.
Painting full pictures like this is always tough and time-consuming, but it is so worth it. In previous years, I’ve done red and gold freehand nail art inspired by Vic & Her Nails, and tape and gradient nails inspired by Pinpoint Polish.
