It’s day 4 of the Digital Dozen vampy week and I finally have something that isn’t red to share for this theme! I’ll be back to red and black tomorrow though – but for today I’ve managed something in a deep purple.
I took a little inspiration from a fellow Digital Dozen member for this one. For Monday’s look, Cathy from More Nail Polish did some glossy stamping over a matte gradient. It wasn’t the first time I’d seen glossy and matte stamping, but it was enough to convince me I finally needed to try it! I did a quick test trying to stamp matte over glossy or glossy over matte, and I found the matte stamping worked a little better. I think I’ll need a non-fast drying clear polish to try glossy stamping!
I started with a base of Essence Prom-Berry and then stamped using a matte top coat and plate BPL-027 (reviewed here). I found that I had to work faster than usual to get this stamping to work or the matte became oddly white (and a little patchy). I had to scrape and stamp as quickly as I could, so I had no time to try to line the image up. I think it works like this though, maybe even better than if I’d made each nail exactly the same.
I was honestly surprised that this worked so well, I had been concerned it would barely show up. I ended up loving it – the stamping is subtle and distinct at the same time. What do you think? Have you been brave enough to try matte/glossy stamping before?
