The Digital Dozen Does Colour Contrast Day 3: Red and Green

Painted Fingertips | The Digital Dozen Does Contrast - green with red flowers

Hi everyone!

It’s day 3 of the Digital Dozen does colour contrasts week and today I’m going with the third ‘obvious’ contrast – red and green! I’ve already shown you my blue and orange and purple and neon yellow nails. We actually had a bit of a discussion in the Digital Dozen group about how to avoid making red and green look too Christmassy, I think I managed it though 🙂Painted Fingertips | The Digital Dozen Does Contrast - green with red flowers

I started off with a base of KBShimmer Shore Thing. This is more of a blue-green which I think is what helped me to stay away from the Christmassy vibes! I then used acrylic paints to paint some red and white one-stroke flowers. It’s been ages since I’ve tried the one stroke technique – the last time was over a year ago – and even though I like the result, I always think I need more practice! I was also trying out a new brush (a cheap craft store one) and I didn’t really like it. The result is pretty enough, though. I added white outlines to the flowers and some white and green detailing and that was it! Painted Fingertips | The Digital Dozen Does Contrast - green with red flowers

I’m really enjoying this Digital Dozen theme – two more days to go! dd_contrastTake a look at some more colour contrast manicures at these links:
