The polishes used in this post include both press samples and items purchased at a blogger discount.
I am so excited to share today’s post with you. Not only am I going to share seven beautiful new polishes from The Howling Boutique’s Supermoon Lacquer with you, but there is also a giveaway at the end! You will be able to win your choice of two of these beauties – this post is picture heavy but be sure to make it through to the end for the giveaway!
Supermoon Lacquer is a relatively new brand, but one that has already caught my eye – you may have noticed me using one of their polishes as the base for my water drops nail art a couple of weeks ago. Of course, I jumped at the chance to swatch their new, gloriously darker collection, filled with shimmer and shift. This is Supermoon’s third full collection and it may just be their best yet!
The collection consists of seven polishes: four shifty shimmers and three holographic microglitters. The reason it is called The Chosen Collection is because members of the Facebook fan group, The Howling Boutique’s Wolf Pack, played an important part in deciding which polishes to include in the collection by voting first on their favourites out of 36 colours, and then suggesting and voting on the names for each polish.
To avoid repeating myself on every polish: all of these had a fantastic formula. They went on smooth and opaque. Several could be one-coaters if you use a thicker coat, but I recommend two thin coats for all of them. I had no problems with any of them and they were a pleasure to apply!
First up we have one of my favourites, a gorgeous bronzey polish packed with green, gold and orange shimmer. Shown are two easy coats of Fight Your Demons with top coat.

I never used to be a big fan of brown polish, but suddenly, I can’t get enough of it. This one is no exception, especially since it is so packed with shimmery goodness!
Just look at that macro! I must definitely try to squeeze in a little more autumn nail art with this beauty.
Next up, we have the red polish from the collection, The Apple of Eve’s Eye.
Red isn’t my favourite polish colour, but this one has enough going on for me to love it. Orangey shimmer, microglitters, and a splash of holo make this one a winner. Again, I have used two coats with top coat.

I decided to include the flash shot above to show you some of the holographic goodness – my normal lighting setup tends to mute holos. The non-flash images are more colour accurate. I haven’t included flash shots for the other two holographic shades, but they all have a similar level of holo.
I just love the hue of this red – not tomato-y, not too dark either – it’s just right 🙂
Next is another of the holo microglitter shades, Crossroad Blues.
Even just that header shot should be enough to convince you that I love this one. It’s a gorgeous, rich blue; more packed with microglitters than The Apple of Eve’s Eye, and with some lovely violet shimmer and again, a splash of holo. Shown here are two coats with top coat.
Official description: A dark blue/teal holographic duochrome with turquoise-to-purple colour shifting shimmer and iridescent blue-to-teal colour shifting microglitter.
The colour is so rich – I could swim in this one.
No flash shot of this one but the holo is there, you can see it a little in the macro above!
Next up is my absolute favourite from the collection, Green Goddess.
This is a glorious green-to-bronze shifting multichrome. Shown here are two coats with top coat.
Official description: An olive-green based multichrome that shifts in colour from bronze to gold to green.
The shift in this one is really quite spectacular and the pictures don’t do it justice – scroll back up to the header of this one to see a little more of the bronze come out. This polish can look completely olive green in some light – what you’re seeing the most of in the pictures here – and completely bronze in other lighting conditions. In fact, when I first unwrapped this polish, I was confused as to why it was called Green Goddess when it was clearly a bronze polish! Only when I moved to brighter lighting conditions did I see it miraculously transform to green.
If you can only get one polish from this collection, get this one. You won’t be sorry.
Next up, another shifty polish, Knight’s Strength:
This one is a green-to-dark-blue multichrome. Shown here are two coats with top coat.
Official description: A blue based purple multichrome that shifts in colour from bright purple to dark blue to bright green.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t love this one quite as much as I loved the rest of the collection. That doesn’t mean it isn’t gorgeous – I still liked it, but it didn’t wow me quite as much as the others did.
I do really like the shiftiness it has – take a look at that brush macro!
Next up, we have the third and final holo microglitter shade, Luck of the Draw.
This is a deep green packed with green microglitter, turquoise shimmer, and a splash of holo. Shown are two coats with top coat.
Official description: A green holographic duochrome with turquoise and green-to-blue colour shifting shimmer plus iridescent green-to-teal colour shifting microglitter.
I can’t help thinking that it will be perfect to combine this with The Apple of Eve’s Eye for some Christmas nail art!
Once again, no flash shot of this one but remember the holo is there.
Last but not least, we have The Lone Heir.
If you follow Painted Fingertips, you’ll already know I love purple so of course this one is another winner for me. It’s a dark, shifty purple with magenta and violet shimmer. Shown here are two coats with top coat.
Official description: A red-violet multichrome with violet and purple-to-red colour shifting shimmer.
You can really only see the violet end of the shift in these pictures, but when wearing this polish I did notice it appeared red at certain angles and in different lighting conditions.
Another winner! Aside from my favourite, Green Goddess, I just can’t even begin to decide which of these polishes I love the most. The whole collection is stunning!
If you love these as much as I do, you’ll want to be ready for the preorder! It starts this Thursday, 3 November, at 6 pm CST to Sunday, 6 November at 11:59 pm CST. This is the best time to purchase since the polishes are available at a discount! They are priced at $9-10 each (depending on the finish) and the full set of seven will be $64. If you miss the preorder, the official collection launch is Wednesday 9 November at 6 pm CST. The polishes will then be priced at $10-11 each or $70 for the full set.
And now for the giveaway! I hope you’re not as indecisive as I am about which of these beauties you love the most, because you can win your choice of two from the collection! This giveaway is US only – sorry international folks, shipping just gets too crazy.
