It’s day 2 of the Digital Dozen Does Black. Yesterday, I showed you some matte on glossy black stamping with a pink accent. Today I’ve done something with a pretty similar idea behind it, even if the look itself is quite different. I’ve again combined matte and glossy finishes and added a splash of colour. This time, I switched it up with a matte base and glossy stamping. I started off with a base of Darling Diva The Hot Kitsune on each of my nails. Once it was dry, I taped off a triangle at the base of each nail and painted over it using Sinful Colors Black on Black followed by a matte top coat. I carefully peeled the tape up. Using the top coat over my whole nail would have made it look a little smoother, but I really like the contrast between the glossy gold and the matte black, so I’m glad I didn’t.
Finally, I stamped each nail using an image from Born Pretty Store plate BP-L027 and Born Pretty’s black stamping polish. This was the perfect image to use since the shape at the base of each nail fitted perfectly into the triangles. It was a lot easier to stamp with a stamping polish over a matte base rather than with a matte top coat over a glossy base. Of course, you can only do it this way around when you have a stamping polish in the exact same shade as your base, though! I’m very happy with how all the elements of this nail art worked together. Somehow the gold polish was the perfect way to make the triangles seem elegant, and the stamping image was just the right one to finish off the look. The other Digital Dozen members are coming up with some amazing nail art for this theme! Check out their work at these links:
