Today I have a swatch of a gorgeous, shimmery, holo-ey, and overall lovely shade to share with you: Vapid Unicorn Blood. You’ve seen Unicorn Blood once on the blog already – I used it as a base for some purple snowflake stamping in this post. It was perfect with the purple! Now I am finally getting around to showing you this beauty on its own. Unicorn Blood is a pale lavender polish with a holographic effect and strong gold shimmer. The header image I showed above was taken at an angle so that the gold shimmer became dominant, but on the nail the lavender is the star most of the time. The gold shimmer is really strong and in the right lighting, it can give this polish an almost magical what-colour-are-you-really? feel. The shimmer is also so fine and well done that at times it feels more like a duochrome shift to gold – I love it! Shown here are 2 coats with top coat. The formula was excellent and made this shade a pleasure to apply. I picked up this polish a couple of months ago in my first ever Vapid order and I was actually really on the fence about this one. I thought it might look a little odd with my skin tone and I didn’t know if I’d like it but I decided to give it a try… and I am so glad I did! I absolutely love it and I can’t believe I was ever on the fence. It is gorgeous and really something special – completely unique to my collection! You can really see that golden shimmer in my macro – and isn’t it gorgeous? The gold was what made me nervous about this polish because I have a yellowish skin tone and many golds don’t look good on me – but done like this, a strong shimmer in a lovely lavender, it’s perfect. Looking at these pictures again actually really makes me want to put this polish on again right now! What do you think of this one?
If you’d like to purchase this polish, it is available right now on the Vapid site.
