It’s day 3 of the Digital Dozen’s 5th birthday week and today I’ve gone crazy with some 3D cupcake nail art! So far this week, I’ve shared balloon nails and sprinkles nails, so I’m sticking with the birthday party theme today.
I was inspired by these amazing 3D cupcake nails by Narmai of Piggieluv, but I decided to skip the cute cupcake faces and just go with sprinkles instead.
To get this look, I started off using Yellow Stopper as a base coat. Since it has worked well for me as a base to apply loose flakies, I decided to try it as apply glitter too. I really loved how it worked – I gently rubbed the loose glitter onto the surface of my nails, and pieces that were flat against the nail stuck. It gives a smoother, if less dense finish than pouring glitter into wet polish. I added a second coat of Yellow Stopper and layer of glitter, then got started on the cupcakes.
I used Madam Glam 3D gel in Sugar to create the cupcakes. It’s really great for creating 3D nail art! I painted over the gel using acrylic paints, and finished off each nail with glittery sprinkles. On my thumb nail, I used the 3D gel to create a raised ‘5’ and covered it with iridescent glitter over a light gold acrylic paint.
