I don’t have any nail art to share with you today, but what I do have are lots of pictures of the world’s cutest cat!
It was Gizmo’s third birthday last week, and it seemed like a good time to share some of the best pictures I’ve taken of him over the past few months with you. Although we don’t know exactly when Gizmo was born, the vet estimated that he was between 2-3 months old when we found him, which would place his birthday somewhere around November 2014. We decided to go for the middle of the month, so we celebrate his birthday on 15 November.
Gizmo’s birthday celebrations aren’t all that different from a regular day for him – he just gets a few extra hugs and kisses and some wet food, which he gets a couple of times a week, anyway. We did sing for him and he appeared to sit and listen very politely – although it’s possible he just thought we’d finally lost it and he needed to keep an eye on us.
Gizmo’s birthday does mean something to me, though. Although it is a couple more months until the anniversary of when we found him and adopted him, his birthday still represents to me another year that he’s been in our lives. At 3 years old, he’s still a young cat (thank goodness!), but it represents (almost) 3 years that we’ve been a family of 3. Gizmo brings us a huge amount of laughter and it’s hard to imagine a time we were without him!
Here he is at his favourite pastime – staring out of the window. We do take him out for walks, but not nearly enough according to him. So, he will spend hours watching everything that goes on outside. There are plenty of squirrels and rabbits that live around here, so there is always some activity for him to watch.
Something that I have realised since we found Gizmo-cat is just how much personality cats have. These days, when someone says that they don’t like cats much, I can’t help thinking that they either haven’t gotten to know any cats that well (since cats tend to be stand-offish to humans that aren’t their humans), or they just haven’t met one with a personality that was right for them. We were really lucky with Gizmo – we may have just found him outside, basically by chance, but he has just the right personality for us. Loving, silly, funny, and playful.
Despite all of his sweetness, if there is one thing Gizmo doesn’t like, it is photographs. He almost always knows when I am taking a picture and he will immediately stop whatever cute thing he is doing. As you can see, I have managed to sneak a few good ones! It’s just about impossible to get any pictures of him being silly, though. Gizmo says that’s enough about him, time for a nap!
