The polish in this post was provided for my honest review.
By now you’ve probably heard of Polish Pickup – I’ve shared a couple of swatches from previous Polish Pickup themes. If not, it’s a monthly group theme with an ever-increasing number of makers joining in to each create a single polish to fit the theme. December’s theme is ‘Holidays around the world’ and each maker interprets this and finds whatever inspiration they would like to create their polish. All of the polishes for the month are then available on the Polish Pickup site – this round’s polishes can be purchased from 1 December to 4 December. It’s a great way to get to try a variety of brands and all of the polishes that are being created are stunning! To make the whole process more interactive, you can also vote on what themes you would like to see in coming months. More details are available in the Polish Pickup Pack Facebook group.
Today, I have Supermoon Lacquer’s December offering, Party Monarch, to share with you. As I mentioned, this month’s theme is Holidays around the world. Mardi, the maker behind Supermoon Lacquer, chose Crop Over as her holiday. Crop Over is a traditional harvest festival which takes place in Barbados every year, and is comparable to other Carnival holidays. Specifically, the inspiration came from this costume Rihanna wore to Crop Over. The costume is vibrant and colourful and many of those colours are captured in the shimmers and microflakes present in this polish.
An aqua-green/turquoise scattered holographic base filled with green/violet/red, green/teal, and turquoise/purple color shifting shimmer, blue, red, and white sparks, pink and rose pearl flakies, iridescent lime-gold microglitter, and holographic clear and gold microglitter.
When there is a combination of so many different shimmers, sparks, and flakies, I always find it difficult to pick out each individual one. They combine to create one many-coloured beauty. You can see some of the individual components referred to in the bottle macro at the top of this post.
The formula on this polish was fantastic – it is so opaque! Shown here are 2 easy coats with top coat.
Overall – Party Monarch is a little different from the other Supermoons I have, in that the shade feels brighter and lighter than most of them. But it has the same complexity and depth as I’m used to expecting from their polish!
If you’d like to get your hands on Party Monarch, it’ll be available on the Polish Pickup site from 1-4 December! Get it while you can! It really is a lovely shade – do you think you’ll be picking this one up?
