As I mentioned in my snowy Minnesota home post earlier this week, I’m at an out-of-town conference this week so I wasn’t able to do all 5 Digital Dozen manicures for the ‘my home’ theme. This is the second one I was able to finish, and it’s for my childhood home. I grew up and spent most of the first 2 decades of my life in Pretoria, South Africa. Pretoria is known as the Jacaranda City for its many streets lined with Jacaranda trees.
Around October every year, the trees begin to flower and are covered with gorgeous purple bell-shaped blossoms. They are beautiful and of course, since these come into bloom just before exam time, it’s considered good luck if one falls on your head!
To get this look, I started off with a base of Fancy Gloss Emerald Pixie. I thought it would do a good job of evoking the tiny leaves with sun shining through them! At first, I had intended to do larger, more realistic flowers, but that didn’t work so well, so I went for a Jacaranda print instead.
I painted the flowers using acrylic paints. I think I did a decent job of making these look like Jacarandas!
What do you think of this fun floral look?
