I managed to get my final look done for the Digital Dozen’s mythical creatures week, just one day late. Phew! So far this week, I’ve shared nail art looks inspired by dragons, fairies, phoenix, and unicorns. I had so much fun with this week’s theme, and honestly I think it’s been one of my best Digital Dozen weeks! The only look I didn’t absolutely LOVE was my unicorn one.
For today’s look, I needed to get something done in a hurry after my giant Moonflower stamping polish post set me a day behind. I looked through the pictures from the other Digital Dozen members this week and this basilisk look by Manis & Makeovers really stood out to me. My look turned out quite different from hers, but she definitely inspired me.
To get this look, I started with a base of Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Because of my Character, which is their March Polish Pickup shade. I thought it would shine through a little more, but in the end you can barely see it. It’s under there, though! I wanted something a little more reptilian in colour, and since I didn’t have a green jelly polish, I layered OPI Turquoise Aesthetic and Primarily Yellow. I then randomly dabbed a few loose multichrome flakies onto each nail.
Over this greenish-and-flakied base, I stamped using Moonflower Polish Dark Green and Moyra plate 32-Nature. As I pulled back my stamper from the first nail I saw that this look was going to be a huge success! It looks so cool! I’m really glad I added the loose flakies, I only thought of that at the last minute.
I am so happy with how this look turned out – I didn’t have high expectations since it was a hurried look and I started the day without any ideas for it, but I really love the final product. When my husband saw them he thought it looked like a lizard – so I think I brought across the basilisk idea well enough.
