I have swatches of the gorgeous Quixotic Polish Basant to share with you today. Sadly, this polish is no longer available, but I still wanted to share some pretty pictures.
I was very lucky to get my hands on Basant. This was Quixotic’s December Polish Pickup shade, and there were only 100 bottles available. This was a very popular shade and it sold out quickly. I’m not someone who will get my heart too set on a particular nail polish, but I was a bit disappointed that I missed out on it and that there wouldn’t be another opportunity to purchase it. Fortunately for me, a few weeks later, Mary (the maker behind Quixotic) held a giveaway in her Facebook group. I was lucky enough to win a bottle of Basant! This was my first Quixotic, although by that time I already had a second one on its way to me from January’s Polish Pickup.
Basant is a vibrant moss green packed with a LOT of red shimmer, and a splash of gold shimmer. Shown here are 2 coats with top coat.
With two coats, you can still see the tiniest bit of visible nail line on these photos, but it wasn’t really visible in real life (when you’re not always holding your nails right up to bright lights). A third coat would have prevented that, but I liked it perfectly well in two.
I have always been a fan of strong contrasting shimmers – I honestly think it’s one of my favourite types of polish. All shimmers are pretty, but a contrasting shimmer just gives such a cool look! Look at that macro! There is so much goodness going on in this polish. I liked the larger size of the shimmer, it gave an interesting effect and I don’t think I own many polishes that have that. A finer shimmer has its place but the coarse shimmer is perfect for Basant.
Although this polish is no longer available, there are other Quixotics available on their website.
Were you lucky enough to get your hands on Basant? Or do you own any other Quixotics?
