Some items in this post were provided for my honest review.
I have a review to share today of some holographic chameleon nail powder from Beauty Big Bang. I have tried several of their different loose pigments and flakies before, from their silver holo powder to their green-purple chameleon flakies, which were really cool. The one I am sharing today is a smooth (no flakies), strong multichrome effect powder, with added holo.
So to start off with… look at how intense that multichrome shift is! I have this nail powder, which is available in 12 different colours on the Beauty Big Bang site. The colour I have is 10A. The images on the site tend to emphasize the holographic effect of these, which is certainly there and is very visible in certain lighting conditions, but my lighting emphasised the chameleon/multichrome shift more than it did the holo.
This powder has a pink-gold-green shift which, as you can see from the pictures, is very strong. I kept looking at my nails and rotating them to different angles while I had this on! To get this look, I started with a black base using Sinful Colors Black on Black. I decided on the black base as this often brings out the best in multichromes, but this was a nice opaque powder that wouldn’t necessarily require a dark base. I then used a no-wipe gel top coat and rubbed the powder into it using the eyeshadow applicator that comes with it. While I have used non-gel polish (e.g. Yellow Stopper) to apply powders like this before, I get a more reliably even finish using gel, so I just decided to go with gel this time (over a peel-off base so I didn’t have to deal with removal).
As I mentioned, what doesn’t come across in my photos all that well is the holographic effect. In certain lighting conditions, especially in the sun, this had a strong holo effect which just made it even better! Honestly, though, the multichrome shift was the best part for me.
I can’t get over how intense the shift is!
The only bad part about this powder is how little came in the tub. It looked like only enough for a few manicures. The good news is that at only $3, you can always buy some more (and in plenty of colours!).
Are you also enjoying all of these super-shifty multichrome and holo powders?
