Hi everyone!

I have a bling-filled review for you today of a rhinetone and stud mix from Born Pretty Store. A combination of shell-shaped studs and iridescent microbeads and gems made me decide on an extravagant mermaid-inspired look.

Isn’t that fun?

I decided to start with a base of Northern Star’s Age of Aquarius. Of course, this is perfect for a mermaidy look! Don’t forget that it will be available this coming weekend during April’s Polish Pickup!

All of the 3D bling came together in this kit from Born Pretty Store. I chose #4, there are 3 other options with different goodies mixed in but I wanted both the shell studs and the iridescent microbeads.

There were also various sizes of gems and rhinestones mixed in – a couple of very large ones (like the one I’ve used on my thumb), and a lot of very pretty silver medium-sized and iridescent smaller ones. If you look at my ring finger you can see one of each of those. These have a pointed back (like a ‘diamond’ shape), not a flat back, so you have to stick them at an angle to your nail. It’s something to keep in mind, they do stick up more than flat rhinestones but create their own unique effect. The large rhinestones are flat-backed.

I used the little gold triangles as part of the mermaid mix, but these would also do great used on their own as an accent for an elegant nude or wine red manicure.

Painted Fingertips | Mermaid Bling Nails - Born Pretty Store review - macro

I’m a big fan of the translucent microbeads! They disappear a little on the nail, but on the macro and in the context of the mermaid theme, they’re like underwater bubbles!   Painted Fingertips | Mermaid Bling Nails - Born Pretty Store review While this nail art isn’t in a style I wear all that often, I had a lot of fun doing it and most of the components can also be used in a less in-your-face way! It’s nice that you can get shells and microbeads and gems all in one in this $1.99 set, whether you’d plan on using them together or not.

If you like the look of this fun set, it’s available here, and don’t forget you can use the code KGG10 for 10% off your purchase.
