Today I have a review and lots of pictures to share with you of an aurora nail powder from Born Pretty Store. I’ve tried a few powder products by now, in holo, chrome, and multichrome, and it’s always fun to see the transformation as you apply these to the nail! They also have plenty of nail art applications – remember my over-the-top metal-dipped fingers? Today’s powder has a gorgeous shift and interesting character over both dark and light bases.
First of all, I tried the Aurora powder in colour option #3 over a black base. While I’ve used some powders over regular polish effectively, I find they work most consistently/reliably when using gel, so I just went with a gel top coat to apply this. This is a powder that has a translucent white look in the pot, so it was a lot of fun to apply it over the black base and see how it was transformed!
As you can see, its main colour was a bronzey gold, and it had a very strong green shift. Two other colours of this powder type are also available on the Born Pretty Store site – this is #3.
This one had a nice smooth chrome effect. Whenever I use one of these powders, I discover that my gel application still leaves a lot to be desired. I never manage to completely cover my base colour! Oh well – that’s entirely user error and something I need to practice more.
I decided to test this powder over a white base as well:
Isn’t that lovely? Just like pearls!
Once again, the golden colour of the powder comes through, though in a more subtle way; but rather than shifting green, we now see pink hues coming through.
I have seen others using similar powders over other colours like a yellow or pastel blue, and the effect is always gorgeous. It’s something I really must try!
