Hi everyone!

Are you enjoying tropical week as much as I am? I have my favourite look of the week to share with you today, a brightly coloured tropical sunset. So far this week, I’ve shared some tropical flowers, pineapple nails, and a watermelon water marble.

Can you see why this is my favourite look for the week? It is so vibrant! I was so happy with that neon gradient. I used 5 neon polishes I made myself a while ago to get the bright gradient. When I was making these polishes, I had in mind this post on More Nail Polish where Cathy described how she made her own water marbling neons. I didn’t use the same base that she did, and more than likely used different proportions of everything, and was disappointed to find that the resulting polishes didn’t marble well at all. The good news is that I made them nice and opaque and as you can see here, they are excellent for gradients! I really do need to do some posts on the polishes I’ve made for myself – is that something you’d be interested in reading about?

On top of my neon gradient, I added a coat of Darling Diva Time to Make the Chimifuckingchangas. Not only did it make the gradient look extra gorgeous, but adding a topper like that also always makes gradients appear even smoother. I used black acrylic paint to add the palm trees. Looking at the pictures now, I think I may have made the palm trees a little too frond-y and fern-y, but I still like them a lot.

Now isn’t that a gorgeous sunset? I can’t get over how well these neons worked for a gradient, I need to do some more neon gradients using them!      Painted Fingertips | Neon sunset - The Digital Dozen does Tropical
