Some items in this post were provided for my honest review.
October’s Polish Pickup is starting tomorrow! I can’t believe it’s already October! I have a couple more polishes to share with you that you may want to pick up – starting with the Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer for the month, Scarlet Flame.
Scarlet Flame is a shimmery dark red magnetic polish with gold microflakies. The official description is a burgundy/eggplant (depending on the angle) base with gold sparking shimmers, red microflakies, gold and rusty red glass flecks, and a gold to red shifting magnetic pigment.
Here I am showing one single coat of Scarlet Flame with top coat. One coat! The formula on this shade is phenomenal and as you can see, it’s beautifully opaque.
This polish is inspired by Smaug from The Hobbit and it is perfect for that inspiration. A dark red, mysterious, fire-breathing dragon that shimmers in the low light is everything that Scarlet Flame is.
I applied one coat of Scarlet Flame, held the magnet next to my nail, applied top coat, and magnetised again. I like the effect I got a lot, but I know that others were able to get a more defined magnetic effect – for an example, check out this post on CDBNails. I’m not sure why mine wasn’t more defined; this is the first magnetic polish I’ve used in about 5 years so perhaps I just need a little trial and error. I may have needed to hold the magnet closer, or for longer, or get it to my nail quicker. Either way, the more subtle effect I got is still really cool!
Scarlet Flame will be available through Polish Pickup from 5-8 October (or until it sells out!). It will be priced at $13 alone, or $15 if you want the bar magnet that optionally comes with it. I used my magnet that came with it for these pictures. It will be capped at 75 bottles with magnet or 100 bottles without.
Do you plan on picking this one up? I’m really glad I have it, between the outstanding formula, cool magnetic effect, and inspiration from something I love as much as The Hobbit, it’s a winner for me.
