Hi everyone!

It’s day 2 of the Digital Dozen does ‘look up’. Today’s look is more seasonal and it’s something I’ve been seeing already here in Minnesota – snow!

I realised as I was getting back from my recent vacation just how much Minnesota has become my home. I looked out the window as the plane was descending and saw the dusting of snow over everything, and felt a warm sense of homecoming. It’s cold, and annoying, but it’s also beautiful!

I mentioned in yesterday’s post that I’d tried a new technique for one of my looks this week, and here it is – foil stamping! I stopped at the What’s Up Nails store in Phoenix before flying back from my trip to meet Kristi (Beginnails), and decided to pick up one of the foil stamping kits they had in store. I’m pretty happy with how my first attempt came out! The foil didn’t quite stick everywhere, but fortunately I used silver polish and silver foil so it isn’t too obvious. I will need to practice a bit for using different foil colours!

To get this look, I started with a base of Supermoon Lacuqer Azoth. I then stamped using Born Pretty Store plate Celebration BPX-L008 and Moyra foil stamping polish FP03. I applied the Moyra silver foil over the stamping polish to get the foiled effect. I topped with a water-based top coat followed by a regular top coat. I still need to experiment a bit to see which top coats work best, but this method seemed fine.

Real snow is all white, until it gets all brown… so why do blue and silver seem like such good snow colours?
