Hi everyone!

It’s day 3 of the Digital Dozen does Texture! With just two more days to go, I am SO glad that I managed to get my looks done ahead of time this month. I’ve been so busy, it’s been all I can manage to just get the posts written up! So far this week, I’ve shared a colourful textured dotticure and an elegant accent stripe nail art. Today, I’ve combined textured polish with striping tape.

To get this look, I started with a base of Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer How Sweet it is. That’s already a gorgeously sparkly and shimmery polish, but I added even more sparkle with a coat of Born Pretty Store La Vierge de Fer.

Once that was completely dry, I used striping tape to tape out a different pattern on each nail. I then used a sponge to sponge on first Rimmel Shooting Star, and then Zoya Chyna closer to the tips of my nails to create a gradient effect. I peeled off the striping tape and was left with this criss-cross textured nail art!

I just love how sparkly these textures are! My thumb did get its own pattern, too:

I’ve found that using striping tape as a way to keep the base colour visible across the nail and ‘fade in’ the overlying texture is a great way to combine smooth and textured polishes. I’ve done it before with a silver texture and with a brown-to-gold gradient.

What’s your favourite way to combine textured and non-textured polishes?
