Hi everyone!
Can you believe it’s March already? February passed in a haze of snow here. We had the most snow ever recorded for the month of February! And we had even more today. Since it’s already March, that means it’s time for another Polish Pickup! The sale has already started so you can head over and check it out right away. Today I have swaches of the Aurora Lacquer shade to share with you. I’m showing this on its own and over a couple of different base polishes, so check out the full post!

March’s Polish Pickup theme is Album Covers. Aurora chose the Oops I Did It Again album cover from Britney Spears. I love that selection – I think it’s a blast from the past for many of us! As a child, I didn’t have my own radio/CD player until I was well into my teens, but back when this album came out, a close friend of mine had it. Since I didn’t really have access to any pop music at home, I couldn’t stop listening to it every time I went to visit. It doesn’t matter that I’m not really into pop music any more – that album brings back memories!

The polish that Kim created to celebrate it is just gorgeous. It’s packed with flakies – the official description is a circus of UCC flakies, metallic flakies, gold flakies and color shifting flakies. Well that sounds about right! Magenta, gold and purple are dominating colours but there is plenty more going on in there – splashes of turquoise, red, and I’m sure a few more colours.

I needed four coats of It’s Britney B*tch to wear it on its own like this. Fortunately the formula was great, and flakes distributed themselves well, but I knew I’d probably like this one better as a topper. I decided to try it over a couple of different bases.

First of all, over Sinful Colors Black on Black. Black is always a good choice to go under flakies! I like how the blue and turquoise colours were able to shine a bit more like this.

Next, I tried it over a nude, p2 Breakfast with Tiffany. This should give you a good idea of how many flakes you get in a single coat of It’s Britney B*tch! And aren’t all the flakes gorgeous? It looks so amazing over this nude base. My favourite, though, was a blue base – I liked that one so much that I decided to wear it as a full manicure:

Here I’m wearing a single coat of It’s Britney B*tch over Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Handsomest Boys.

Isn’t that gorgeous? The flakes may not stand out quite as much as they do over the black or nude bases, but I just really like the colour combination and the way the flakes look over this base. In fact, I’ve had a busy week and I wound up wearing this combination the entire week long, and I don’t even mind because I like it so much.

Do you blame me? Look at that beautiful macro!

If you’d like your very own bottle of It’s Britney B*tch, it’s available right now at $12 per bottle. There are only 75 bottles available on the US site and 10 on the UK site, so if I were you I’d get it sooner rather than later. The sale ends on 4 March.
Does Britney’s Oops, I did it again bring back memories for you, too?
