Guest Post: Kristi from BeginNails

Hi everyone!

Since I am currently TAing a field camp in Northern Minnesota, I’ve decided to enlist the help of a few of my favourite fellow nail bloggers with some guest posts here on Painted Fingertips. Today I have a guest post from the lovely Kristi of BeginNails. Kristi is a part of the Digital Dozen group with me and does some really cool nail art – go check out her blog and give her a follow if you don’t already follow her!

Greetings and Nailutations,

I’m Kristi from BeginNails and I’ll be guest posting for Kerry today while she is up exploring northern Minnesota.  I was honored that she asked me to guest post and quickly said yes!  Now lets get into the good stuff!

Products used:
Ever After Polish – Spectre Flair
Ribbit’s Stickits – Cuticle Cover
LINA Nail Art Supplies – Feeling Shapely 02 Plate
Clear Jelly Stamper – Big Bling Stamper
Glisten and Glow – HK Girl Top Coat
Drip Drop Nail Paints – Yoga Pants
It Girl Nail Art – Coral

I started with a 3 coat base of Spectre Flair to get complete opacity.  I topped it with HK Girl Top Coat and made sure that was dry before continuing with my stamping.  I protected my skin with Cuticle Cover and I decided to do a mix of stamping with Coral and Yoga Pants with the Shapely 02 Plate.

I rarely do manis that mix and match images and I always love how they turn out.  I hope you did too!

I hope you are enjoying your explorations Kerry!

Happy Polishing,
Kristi aka BeginNails

Don’t her nails look lovely? I’m loving the pink, black and silver colour combination!
Don’t forget to go show Kristi some love on her blog and social media! Here are some links where you can take a look at more of her work and give her a follow:

The Digital Dozen Does Continents: Tulips – Europe

This post contains affiliate links.

Hi everyone!

It’s day 4 of the Digital Dozen does Continents! I took a bit of a break from the freehand nail art I’ve done for the other days of this week with some stamping. I was trying to think about what could be used to represent Europe – combined with what I might find on a stamping plate – when I remembered that Holland is known for its beautiful fields of tulips!

The Digital Dozen Does Continents: Pandas – Asia

Hi everyone!

It’s day 3 of the Digital Dozen Does Continents and today I’m back to a continent I’ve never set foot on – Asia! I almost chose Antarctica for today, but the cute penguin stamping image I wanted to use was being difficult. For whatever reason, I didn’t feel like freehanding penguins. Then it hit me – what else is cute and black and white and an icon of a continent? Pandas!

The Digital Dozen Does Continents: Dooie Vlei – Africa

Hi everyone!

It’s the second day of The Digital Dozen does Continents and today I’ve decided to go with the continent I grew up on – Africa. In case you didn’t know, I’m South African and I lived there for the first 25 years of my life. A few years ago, my husband and I took a holiday to the neighbouring country of Namibia. Much of Namibia is desert – the Namib Desert. We went to see the beautiful natural sights and one of the places we visited was the Dooie Vlei.

Some items in this post were provided for review. This post contains affiliate links.

Hi everyone!

I have a review of another Born Pretty Store stamping plate to share with you, plate BP-L063. This one is covered with cute animal images! There are some cats I know I’ll be using at some point, and monkeys, and elephants, and penguins – today I’ve gone with the dolphins and hedgehogs.

Stamping Plate BP-L052 Review

Some items in this post were provided for review. This post contains affiliate links.

Hi everyone!

It has been so hot and humid the past couple of days here – something I never thought I’d be saying about Minnesota before I moved here! It looks like it might rain today so I’m hoping it’ll cool down just a little.

Today I have a review of another Born Pretty Store stamping plate, plate BP-L052, to share with you. Before I start showing you any of the nail art (and let me tell you right now that both looks I did are pretty great and you should at least look at this whole post!), a note about the plate itself. When I received this plate, several of the images were different than those shown on the site. Here is my photograph of the plate (excuse the reflections):

And, the plate as advertised on the site:
BORN PRETTY 12*6cm Rectangle Stamping Template Floral Design Manicure Nail Art Image Plate BP-L052Some of the images seem to just appear in a different order, while others are completely different. The plate still has a similar vibe and either version is beautiful, but do be aware of this before purchasing this plate. Now for the two stamped nail art looks I’ve created using this plate!

Water Marble Wednesday: Neon Pink and Yellow Spiral

Hi everyone!

It’s Water Marble Wednesday! Are you sick of my neon water marbles yet? I know, I know, it’s the third one in a row. I’ve just really enjoyed how beautifully the Pipe Dream Polish ANIV collection marbles! Don’t worry, I’ve got something different lined up for the next few water marble Wednesdays. For now, though, here’s a fun neon spiral marble!

Swatch: Northern Star Polish Shark Bite

The polish shown in this post was provided for honest review.

Hi everyone!

When I first moved to Minnesota I looked up which indie polish brands were local to Minnesota. I saw Northern Star Polish but to my disappointment, they were on hiatus at the time. I am happy to say that they’re back! They made their return a couple of months ago and have been participating in the monthly Polish Pickup initiative. I was over the moon when Kristin, the maker behind Northern Star, approached me about swatching this month’s polish. So, here is my first ever Northern Star polish – Shark Bite!
