31 Day Challenge – Day 14: Flowers

Hi everyone!

Thank goodness it’s weekend! Time for some rest and relaxation… and to go with that, I have my first ever attempt at using acrylic paints on my nails for you today:

floral1Uhm… can you see that those are flowers? Sort of, maybe? Well, I used a happy springy dress I have for inspiration, which looks like this:

31 Day challenge – Day 13: Animal Print

Hey everyone, and happy Friday the 13th!

First up, good news for all you Pinterest users! I haven’t used Pinterest much in the past, but yesterday I found to my amazement that a couple of you lovely ladies had pinned some of my nail designs. So, to make it easier, I’ve added a ‘Pin it’ button at the bottom of each post along with an option to follow me on Pinterest in the sidebar on my home page. Enjoy it and thanks for the love!

Today’s theme was animal print. I’ve never been a big fan of leopard print on clothing, but in small doses, like say… just on your nails, I can get behind it. Especially when it has the redeeming factor of funky colours!

31 Day Challenge – Day 12: Stripes

Hello ladies!

Today’s challenge theme is stripes, and I decided to try something for the first time: A striped gradient.

stripes4I used six different blues for my gradient and I loved that I could include glitter polishes 🙂 I didn’t manage to get the stripes even on each nail, but I loved the final look nonetheless. Excuse the ding on my index finger, I didn’t even notice I’d bumped it until I was taking photos!

31 Day Challenge – Day 11: Polka Dot Nails

Hi everyone!

Today we start off with the patterns section of the challenge – this is the part I have been looking forward to the most! For my polka dot mani, I followed this tutorial done by The Crumpet. The main difference is that mine doesn’t look nearly as neat, haha! But at least it was fun and summery 🙂

31 Day Challenge – Day 9: Rainbow Nails

Hi everyone!

So it’s Monday again… At least today we have rainbow manicures to brighten up the Monday blues a little!

rainbowYay it’s so bright and colourful! This was a fun and colourful mani, and I used by far the most polishes I have ever used for a single manicure… I created a vertical gradient with 2 colours on each finger, and then topped it off with 2 different glitters.

31 Day Challenge – Day 8: Metallic Nails

Good morning everyone!

It’s time for week 2 of the challenge, and first up is metallic nails. I created a simple starburst design in 2 colours:

metallic1The polishes I used for this are both from the Mirror range from Revolution and are called Bentley (the blue) and Chevrolet (the magenta). These polishes are quick-drying, really opaque, super shiny and gorgeous shades, BUT they do streak quite a bit.

31 Day Challenge – Day 7: Black and White nails

Hey everyone! Happy Saturday! I hope you’re all having a nice relaxing weekend.

Today’s challenge was black and white nails. I am sure that many people have come up with amazing graphic designs and patterns, but I decided to go for a water marble.

marble1The first time I saw a water marble online was the first time I really thought ‘wow, you can do different stuff with your nails than just paint them one colour!’ And from that day it was a gradual transformation to becoming nail-crazy 🙂

31 Day Challenge – Day 6: Violet nails

Hi everyone!

Finally, we reach my favourite nail colour: Violet, which means I get to use PURPLE polishes!

textire5AND I used a textured polish, yay! As I have mentioned before, when I couldn’t find liquid sands anywhere near me, the delightful Michelle over at Ordinary Misfit got them for me and posted them to me! How amazing is that?

31 Day challenge – Day 5: Blue Nails

Hey guys!

Well, here it seems like spring has sprung. It’s a beautiful, sunny day. But just last week, all the surrounding mountains were covered in snow! So for today’s blue nails, here is a nice snowy mani to say goodbye to winter!
snow4On my ring finger I used 2 coats of Sally Hansen Lustre Shine in Scarab. It was fairly opaque in one coat, but needed a second to cover some bald spots. I then did 3 coats of Essence nail art Special Effect! topper in Cool Breeze. I was hoping the effect would be a little more pronounced, which is why I ended up with 3 coats, but it gave a really beautiful, opalescent effect. It had an extremely strange consistency though, it was very thick and gel-like. It would have been a problem for a normal colour, but since it was a subtle glitter topper it was okay. I stamped the snowman using plate BM-318.
