31DC2016 Roundup

Hi everyone!

Another year’s 31 Day Challenge is over. The end of a challenge can be a little anticlimactic. We’ve done all of this work and all of these beautiful nail designs and it’s just over, seemingly never to be seen again! I really felt like I challenged myself and did some of my best nail art this challenge, so I decided to share it with you one more time in a challenge roundup. Just click on any of the pictures to be taken to the full post if you missed any of these!

I was especially proud of the fact that I managed my personal challenge of including freehand in every look. The only look where I really thought the freehand wasn’t the focus were my metallic nails, where my freehand border became overshadowed by the stamping I added. I had several days where I painted a full freehand picture, which takes a long time but is always so worth it!

I had some personal favourites in every segment of the challenge, although I think the final third may have been my strongest! Personally, my absolute favourites were my birds at sunset, freehand floral, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Starry Night, water drops, and the final landscape. I do think I may have been somewhat influenced by knowing which of these took the most work, though!

Which was your favourite challenge look?

31DC2016 Day 31: Honour Nails You Love – Landscape Nails

Hi everyone!

It’s the final day of the 31 Day Challenge! Can you believe it? I’m so glad that I’ve made it through this year’s challenge, and congratulations to everyone else who took part! The final theme is ‘honour nails you love’. I really enjoy this theme, because I love doing nail art inspired by others. There are so many fantastic nail bloggers, and when I see nails I love it’s hard not to recreate them. I often go to others when I’m in need of inspiration, too. If I can’t decide what to do on my nails, I’ll head to my Pinterest boards or catch up on my blog reading and see if it gives me any ideas. One of the nail artists who inspires me the most is Narmai of Piggieluv. She has incredible freehand nail art skills and comes up with the best, and often the craziest (in a good way!) ideas. So, it was only natural that I recreate one of her nail art looks for the final day of the challenge and I decided to go with some freehand landscape nails.

31DC2016 Day 30: Water Drops Inspired by a Tutorial

Hi everyone!

It’s the second last day of the 31 Day Challenge! I’ve actually already done my nails for tomorrow so I’m officially finished and these were the last nails I did. Today’s theme is inspired by a tutorial. You probably know by now that I enjoy recreating other nail art looks I love, but not everyone does tutorials. I had to search a little to find a tutorial that fit my freehand criteria for the challenge. In the end I picked a water drops tutorial by Starrynail. This is the second look by her I’ve recreated this challenge (the first was my Game of Thrones look) – she just does such amazing freehand art! 31DC2016 Day 28: Inspired by the US flag

Hi everyone!

Today’s theme for the 31 Day Challenge is ‘inspired by a flag’. This has never been a very popular theme of the challenge; to me it seems oddly specific compared to most of the other themes. The American flag is usually popular, firstly since so many bloggers are from the US and secondly because the vibrant colours and the stars and stripes both lend themselves to nail art. I’ve never gone in that direction before, until today!Painted Fingertips | Nails inspired by the US flag for the #31DC2016

31DC2016 Day 25: Inspired by floral denim jacket – fashion

Hi everyone!

Today’s theme in the 31 Day Challenge is inspired by fashion. I only just got this one done in time for today! A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I were shopping for some much-needed jeans when he noticed a beautifully embroidered floral denim jacket at Alpaca Connection. It was gorgeous and completely my style so he ended up buying it for me. I decided to do today’s nails inspired by the jacket.
