It’s day 4 of the Digital Dozen does story genres and today I have some nails for the crime/mystery genre! So far this week, I’ve done romance, fantasy, and horror. I started running out of ideas after those three, but a little brainstorming made me think of a good old detective novel!
It’s Digital Dozen week! This week’s theme is story genres. What a fun theme! Also a tough one – trying to think of nail art ideas for an entire genre rather than just a single story! I might have to resort to using specific stories later in the week, but for now, I’m representing the genre of romance. I’ve gone with some quick but pretty stamping to celebrate this genre.
It’s day 5 of the Digital Dozen Does Continents! We’ve made it! I’m finishing off the week with the second continent I’ve lived on! I am currently working on my PhD in the US – so today we’re celebrating North America.
It’s day 4 of the Digital Dozen does Continents! I took a bit of a break from the freehand nail art I’ve done for the other days of this week with some stamping. I was trying to think about what could be used to represent Europe – combined with what I might find on a stamping plate – when I remembered that Holland is known for its beautiful fields of tulips!
It’s day 3 of the Digital Dozen Does Continents and today I’m back to a continent I’ve never set foot on – Asia! I almost chose Antarctica for today, but the cute penguin stamping image I wanted to use was being difficult. For whatever reason, I didn’t feel like freehanding penguins. Then it hit me – what else is cute and black and white and an icon of a continent? Pandas!
It’s the second day of The Digital Dozen does Continents and today I’ve decided to go with the continent I grew up on – Africa. In case you didn’t know, I’m South African and I lived there for the first 25 years of my life. A few years ago, my husband and I took a holiday to the neighbouring country of Namibia. Much of Namibia is desert – the Namib Desert. We went to see the beautiful natural sights and one of the places we visited was the Dooie Vlei.
I was really having a hard time coming up with an idea for the final day of The Digital Dozen does Paper when suddenly it occurred to me. There was one day in my life on which paper had an unusual significance. Don’t get me wrong, paper is important on many days – we use it to learn, to immerse ourselves in stories, to express ourselves. But on this one day, paper was a part of the celebration of my husband and I choosing a life together – my wedding day! I decided that rather than buying expensive flowers which would only wilt and die, I’d make my own flowers for my and my bridesmaid’s bouquets, as well as all of the table decor – from paper! In fact, I posted a little about the process of making the flowers. I absolutely loved them and today’s nail art is inspired by those paper flowers that I painstakingly folded.
