ILNP: Birefringence (H)

Hi everyone!

I’m sure many of you have seen swatches of I Love Nail Polish’s gorgeous Ultrachrome range. These polishes were on the TOP of my lemming list since the first time I saw them. When it was announced that they were bringing out holographic versions of the polish – and you could get a free limited edition polish if you bought them in the preorder – I could no longer resist. So, I got my very first indie/boutique polishes and I got my biggest lemming! I can’t wait to show you!

Today, I have Birefringence (H). I’ve done a separate post for each of the 5 polishes I got just because they are all beyond gorgeous and need a lot of pictures to do them justice! So look out for the rest in the next couple of weeks ๐Ÿ™‚ This post is a bit more picture heavy than usual but it’s worth it!

Tribal Textures swatches – part 3 (and final!)

Hi ladies!

It’s the final set of Tribal Texture swatches! All these polishes are available from the Born Pretty Store and were bought by me.

As I mentioned in the previous posts, part one and part two, I had some formula issues with some of these polishes. Well, the issues were the WORST with the ones I’m showing today. However, because they were textured polishes, I found I could handle it without getting too frustrated. They were really thick – the worst was number 12. There was a little polish around the lid, so I suspect it wasn’t sealed quite properly during transit and it was completely unusable. The good news is, after just a few drops of thinner, everything was fine and it applied well. So don’t let the formula put you off if you like the colours – nothing a little thinner can’t solve!

I’ll start off with number 10 – a brown texture. tribal texture 10 born pretty store (more…)

Born Pretty Store Tribal Textures: Swatches part 2

Hi everyone!

Today I have the next four Tribal texture polishes from the Born Pretty Store swatched for you. The first four I did – a white, pink, gold, and green – can be found here.

Just a note on the formula of these. I mentioned it in the previous post already, but these polishes are much slower-drying than other textures you may be used to. The dark blue I am showing today was particularly slow-drying. I mean, it could be dented for hours after application. Luckily this isn’t as noticeable with a textured polish but it’s definitely annoying, so I wouldn’t recommend using these when you’re in a hurry.

The first one for today is a pale blue, Tribal texture number 14.

Born Pretty Store Tribal Textures: Swatches part 1

Hi everyone!

A few weeks ago I received my very first order from the Born Pretty Store. Of course, I couldn’t resist their textured polishes, so I got the set of 12 colours! I’ve broken the swatches down into 3 posts so I’ll show you the first 4 colours today.

Firstly, a note about the formula. It varied from one polish to another, but in general they were thick and VERY slow-drying. I recommend using these only when you have plenty of time to do your nails or they will get messed up! Some were only a little slower than normal polishes while others really took forever. Some were also thicker than others and with a creme polish there might have been a minor disaster, but it didn’t bother me all that much with the textures. I also think it’s nothing that can’t be fixed with a few drops of thinner. It was mostly the darker colours (not in this post) that had the thicker formula, so these were slow-drying but not that bad. Shown below are 2 coats of each polish.

On to the polishes! First up is number 01. The polishes don’t have names, only numbers. This is a white texture with silver glitters.

Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Swatches

Hi everyone!

As you may remember from my last post, I was very excited to find Sally Hansen Sugar Coats in Clicks a few days ago. I love textured nail polish so I couldn’t wait to test it out and I got swatching! There are 8 colours available: Cherry Drop, Razzleberry, Sugar Fix, Cotton Candies, Sour Apple, Bubble Plum, Lick-O-Rich, and Sweetie. I got the first 6 of those – the two I didn’t get are Lick-O-Rich, which is a black texture, and Sweetie, which is yellow. I decided I don’t need another matte black texture since I have Nails Inc’s Leather Effect one and although it’s textured in quite a different way, I doubt I’ll ever use them both up. I also steered clear of the yellow since yellow doesn’t suit my skin tone, but I’m sure some people like it ๐Ÿ˜‰

All swatches shown below are two coats, and the colours were pretty consistent. They applied easily and the texture developed as they dried. The white had a slightly thinner formula but it still applied well and looked good after two coats. And here we go:

Tip Top Hamper – Swatches and Comparison

Hi everyone!

Tip Top has two ranges – Tip Top Nail Chic and Nail Addict by Tip Top. Since I already owned quite a few of the Nail Chic polishes I thought I would probably receive some duplicates, but to my joy all of the polishes I received were new to me. Here’s what came in the hamper:
