31 Day Challenge – Day 29: The Supernatural

Hi everyone!

It is such a beautiful, warm, sunny Sunday here! I hope you are all having lovely relaxing days as well 🙂

Today’s theme is inspired by the supernatural. Since I am not all that into the supernatural, I decided to extend the theme a little to more of a Halloween vibe. Halloween has many supernatural connotations, anyway 🙂

I started with a coat of Essence Colour & Go in Flashy Pumpkin on each nail, then a coat of Rimmel Cocktail Colour in Shirley Temple to give it some sparkle. I stamped using the black and white stampy polishes from Essence.

31 Day Challenge – Day 28: Inspired by a flag

Hi guys!

Today’s nails are inspired by my home country, South Africa’s flag. We have a really great flag with bright and beautiful colours 🙂

flag1I created the flag itself on my thumb (shown upside down here, but that’s just because it’s easier to photograph this way, and I wanted to have the triangle part at the tip of my nail!) and just used the colours on all my other fingers.

31 Day Challenge – Day 27: Artwork

Hi everyone!

Nails inspired by an artwork opens up a world of opportunity for very complex and beautiful nail art. Unfortunately, while I am enjoying this challenge, posting to a specific theme every day takes a lot of time and I had to pick something that would be quick to do last-minute on my nails! Luckily I found a pretty cool artwork to use 🙂

artwork1I paged through an art book I have, World Art: the essential illustrated history, and came upon Jazz (1947), a painting by Henri Matisse. I immediately new it was the best choice for today! Here’s how the painting looks (Sorry for the light shining off the glossy page!)

Tri-Polish Challenge September: Day 4

Hello again!

Today is the fourth and final Tri-Polish day for the month. Today, my nails were inspired by these gorgeous flowers created by Sincerely Stephanie. I’ve had her picture saved for weeks just waiting for a chance to recreate it! Of course, mine doesn’t look nearly as beautiful as hers did, but I still loved having this on my nails.

flowers2My three polishes for this month’s challenge were Tip Top Nail Chic – Pot-O-Berries and Blue Meets Green, and Essence Colour & Go Absolutely Blue. I also used Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Black Out and White On.

31 Day Challenge – Day 26: A pattern

Hi everyone!

Wow, day 26… it’s almost the end of the challenge! If I can just manage 5 more days I’ll have done it! 😀

pattern3Today’s nails had to be inspired by a pattern. I thought it would be cool to do some stamping for this, but I was really struggling with it, so I went back to something I find a little easier: A tiny brush and some striping tape.

31 Day Challenge – Day 25: Inspired by Fashion

Hi everyone!

Today’s theme is inspired by fashion and I know a lot of the lovely ladies taking part in this challenge have probably created some gorgeous runway-dress inspired manis. Well, I’m not the biggest fashionista, and although I planned to recreate something from my own wardrobe I ran out of time on this one. So I pulled out the backup and just did some nails inspired by fashion in general!

heelsI used Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Cherry, Cherry, Bang, Bang! for my background colour and I really love the colour 🙂

31 Day Challenge – Day 24: Inspired by a book

Hello ladies!

It’s a public holiday (Heritage Day) here in South Africa today, so I’ve scheduled this post and I’m probably lying in bed sleeping in 😀

For today’s challenge, I had to create some book-inspired nails, and I was happy to use one of my favourite books ever: Sabriel by Garth Nix. It’s part of a trilogy (Sabriel, Lirael, Abhorsen) which were my absolute favourite books as a teenager and are still among my favourites.

sabrielIn Sabriel, certain characters (including Sabriel herself) are Charter Mages and are able to cast magic using Charter Symbols. The book covers show some of the symbols and that’s what I’ve recreated on my nails.

31 Day Challenge – Day 23: Inspired by a movie

Hi everyone!

Today I tried some of the most complex nail art I’ve ever done: Finding Nemo nails! They’ve been done before plenty of times, but I knew I wanted to do an animation for my movie-inspired nails, and Finding Nemo was one of my favourite animations ever. Before I show you the pictures, I want you to focus very carefully: Look at my thumb, index finger, middle finger, CLOSE YOUR EYES FOR A MILLISECOND, and look at my pinkie. Seriously, don’t even THINK about looking at my trainwreck of a ring finger! Sadly I didn’t have time to try redo it!

31 Day Challenge – Day 22: Inspired by a Song

Hi everyone!

Today’s nails had to be inspired by a song. I chose my favourite song, Beautiful Day by U2. I’m sure you know it but give it a listen over here:

Aaahhh, that song just always puts a smile on my face! My mani can totally never do it justice… but at least I try, haha!
