Spring flower stamping

Hi everyone!

Since spring has arrived I decided to show you some simple but happy flowers today. I did these nails a few weeks ago so please excuse my cut finger, I don’t even remember how that happened any more.

floral stamp, NYX matte sky blue, revolution chevrolet,BM-306It’s simple but the happy flowers just make me think of spring! It’s great walking around these days and seeing all the lovely flowers, and the trees with their fresh green leaves.

Tip Top Hamper – Swatches and Comparison

Hi everyone!

A couple of weeks ago I was fortunate enough to win a hamper from Tip Top Nails South Africa. They have regular competitions on their Facebook Page and I was the lucky winner of one! Tip Top has two ranges – Tip Top Nail Chic and Nail Addict by Tip Top. Since I already owned quite a few of the Nail Chic polishes I thought I would probably receive some duplicates, but to my joy all of the polishes I received were new to me. Here’s what came in the hamper:

hamperFrom left to right, I received Tip Top Miraculous Results! Nail Build, Nail Addict by Tip Top Baby Cheeks, Tip Top Nail ChicΒ Pink Lady, Nail Addict by Tip Top Kingfisher, and Tip Top Quick Dry top coat. Blog awards: Liebster Award and Versatile Blogger Award

Hello ladies!

Today’s post is a bit different. While I’ve been busy with the 31 Day Challenge, I’ve received no less than 3 nominations for blog awards. Considering how recently I started this blog, I was overwhelmed, and I just want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart, and I hope you continue to like what you see! Beth from The Polish Influenza nominated me for a Versatile Blogger award, and I got nominations for a Liebster Award from both Aliquid and Nail Art by Divya. Thanks to all 3 of you lovely ladies! I’ve decided to combine all 3 into one post because there is some overlap between them. It’s going to be quite wordy but hopefully it’s interesting for you! πŸ™‚

31 Day Challenge – DAY 31!!! Honour nails you Love

Hello ladies!

I made it! It’s the final day of the 31 day challenge and I DID it! πŸ˜€ Posting every day takes more time than you may think, so I’m pretty proud of myself πŸ˜€

Today’s prompt is to honour nails I love, and it was just about impossible to choose just one thing to do for today. However, there was one design I just kept coming back to as I was deciding. It’s not from within the challenge, but I’ve had a picture saved for weeks, waiting for a chance to try it. And here it is:

tape1This look was inspired by a design by Pinpoint Polish. She did these nails for the piCture pOlish blogfest. I just love them! I didn’t get mine looking as smooth and finished as hers but I was pretty proud of them nonetheless.

31 Day Challenge – Day 30: Inspired by a tutorial

Hi everyone!

Yayyy, it’s the second last day of the challenge! I just have to get out one last design tonight and I’ll have DONE my first ever nail art challenge πŸ˜€

Today’s theme is inspired by a tutorial, and even though there are tons of great tutorials to choose from, there is one I have been waiting to try since the start of the challenge. Adventures in Acetone does great tutorials and she has one for just about every adorable animal under the sun πŸ™‚animals (more…)

31 Day Challenge – Day 29: The Supernatural

Hi everyone!

It is such a beautiful, warm, sunny Sunday here! I hope you are all having lovely relaxing days as well πŸ™‚

Today’s theme is inspired by the supernatural. Since I am not all that into the supernatural, I decided to extend the theme a little to more of a Halloween vibe. Halloween has many supernatural connotations, anyway πŸ™‚

I started with a coat of Essence Colour & Go in Flashy Pumpkin on each nail, then a coat of Rimmel Cocktail Colour in Shirley Temple to give it some sparkle. I stamped using the black and white stampy polishes from Essence.

31 Day Challenge – Day 28: Inspired by a flag

Hi guys!

Today’s nails are inspired by my home country, South Africa’s flag. We have a really great flag with bright and beautiful colours πŸ™‚

flag1I created the flag itself on my thumb (shown upside down here, but that’s just because it’s easier to photograph this way, and I wanted to have the triangle part at the tip of my nail!) and just used the colours on all my other fingers.

31 Day Challenge – Day 27: Artwork

Hi everyone!

Nails inspired by an artwork opens up a world of opportunity for very complex and beautiful nail art. Unfortunately, while I am enjoying this challenge, posting to a specific theme every day takes a lot of time and I had to pick something that would be quick to do last-minute on my nails! Luckily I found a pretty cool artwork to use πŸ™‚

artwork1I paged through an art book I have, World Art: the essential illustrated history, and came upon Jazz (1947), a painting by Henri Matisse. I immediately new it was the best choice for today! Here’s how the painting looks (Sorry for the light shining off the glossy page!)

Tri-Polish Challenge September: Day 4

Hello again!

Today is the fourth and final Tri-Polish day for the month. Today, my nails were inspired by these gorgeous flowers created by Sincerely Stephanie. I’ve had her picture saved for weeks just waiting for a chance to recreate it! Of course, mine doesn’t look nearly as beautiful as hers did, but I still loved having this on my nails.

flowers2My three polishes for this month’s challenge were Tip Top Nail Chic – Pot-O-Berries and Blue Meets Green, and Essence Colour & Go Absolutely Blue. I also used Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Black Out and White On.
