Today I am excited to show you the prize I won a few weeks ago from Karine’s Vernis Club. I’d like to thank her for the great prize, I was so excited to go pick it up the the post office and play with my goodies 😀 I was lucky enough to win a $40 voucher to spend at KKCenterHK. There were a few restrictions as to what I could buy but luckily I could choose between a whole host of nail art items!
A couple of weeks ago I was fortunate enough to win a hamper from Tip Top Nails South Africa. They have regular competitions on their Facebook Page and I was the lucky winner of one! Tip Top has two ranges – Tip Top Nail Chic and Nail Addict by Tip Top. Since I already owned quite a few of the Nail Chic polishes I thought I would probably receive some duplicates, but to my joy all of the polishes I received were new to me. Here’s what came in the hamper:
From left to right, I received Tip Top Miraculous Results! Nail Build, Nail Addict by Tip Top Baby Cheeks, Tip Top Nail Chic Pink Lady, Nail Addict by Tip Top Kingfisher, and Tip Top Quick Dry top coat. Today I’ll be showing you swatches of the 3 colours along with some comparisons to other colours.
Today’s post is a bit different. While I’ve been busy with the 31 Day Challenge, I’ve received no less than 3 nominations for blog awards. Considering how recently I started this blog, I was overwhelmed, and I just want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart, and I hope you continue to like what you see! It’s still mindblowing to know that there are people out there actually interested in what I have to say. I remember how long it look me to decide on where I should start my blog and it wasn’t until I actually sat down properly and took some time to look into topics like web design cms and compared various platforms, to then finally make a decision.
Starting a blog was tough, but I am proud that I actually decided to give it a go, as I would never have been nominated by you lot. Of course, there has been a lot of hard work that has gone into creating this blog, but I’m so proud of how far it’s come. So many people think that all you need to do is write out random blog posts, but there is a lot more to it than that. I know plenty of people who don’t even know where to begin when starting a blog, and often they will look at using a professional company to help them (such as this one here: https://go-creative.com.au/). I’m so proud that I’ve managed to do this myself, but hiring a professional would certainly have come in handy when I was first starting and had no idea where to begin! The first thing I learned though was making sure I knew exactly what needed to be done next. That’s my one bit of advice to anyone starting out.
You need to keep on top of everything – things like gaining social media followers was a tough one. I remember looking at different things that could help me grow my following on Instagram (a friend suggested that I check out https://nitreo.com/instagram-growth-service when I first started out). But amazingly enough, my following just jumped up from that moment, and I’m so grateful to every single person who has followed, liked and commented on all of my posts. It means so much to me when I see someone loving my work. I want to give a quick shoutout to Beth from The Polish Influenza for nominating me for a Versatile Blogger award, and I got nominations for a Liebster Award from both Aliquid and Nail Art by Divya. Thanks to all 3 of you lovely ladies! I’ve decided to combine all 3 into one post because there is some overlap between them. It’s going to be quite wordy but hopefully, it’s interesting for you! 🙂
I made it! It’s the final day of the 31 day challenge and I DID it! 😀 Posting every day takes more time than you may think, so I’m pretty proud of myself 😀
Today’s prompt is to honour nails I love, and it was just about impossible to choose just one thing to do for today. However, there was one design I just kept coming back to as I was deciding. It’s not from within the challenge, but I’ve had a picture saved for weeks, waiting for a chance to try it. And here it is:
This look was inspired by a design by Pinpoint Polish. She did these nails for the piCture pOlish blogfest. I just love them! I didn’t get mine looking as smooth and finished as hers but I was pretty proud of them nonetheless.
Yayyy, it’s the second last day of the challenge! I just have to get out one last design tonight and I’ll have DONE my first ever nail art challenge 😀
Today’s theme is inspired by a tutorial, and even though there are tons of great tutorials to choose from, there is one I have been waiting to try since the start of the challenge. Adventures in Acetone does great tutorials and she has one for just about every adorable animal under the sun 🙂(more…)
It is such a beautiful, warm, sunny Sunday here! I hope you are all having lovely relaxing days as well 🙂
Today’s theme is inspired by the supernatural. Since I am not all that into the supernatural, I decided to extend the theme a little to more of a Halloween vibe. Halloween has many supernatural connotations, anyway 🙂
I started with a coat of Essence Colour & Go in Flashy Pumpkin on each nail, then a coat of Rimmel Cocktail Colour in Shirley Temple to give it some sparkle. I stamped using the black and white stampy polishes from Essence.
Today’s nails are inspired by my home country, South Africa’s flag. We have a really great flag with bright and beautiful colours 🙂
I created the flag itself on my thumb (shown upside down here, but that’s just because it’s easier to photograph this way, and I wanted to have the triangle part at the tip of my nail!) and just used the colours on all my other fingers.
Nails inspired by an artwork opens up a world of opportunity for very complex and beautiful nail art. Unfortunately, while I am enjoying this challenge, posting to a specific theme every day takes a lot of time and I had to pick something that would be quick to do last-minute on my nails! Luckily I found a pretty cool artwork to use 🙂
I paged through an art book I have, World Art: the essential illustrated history, and came upon Jazz (1947), a painting by Henri Matisse. I immediately new it was the best choice for today! Here’s how the painting looks (Sorry for the light shining off the glossy page!)
